In this paper, for the characteristic analysis of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor, voltage source finite element analysis, i.e., the combination of a finite element method and circuit equation is applied. A neural network is applied for the minimization of thrust ripple and the optimization of efficiency. Efficiency is increased 2% and thrust ripple ratio is decreased from 1.2% to 0.93%. So, a satisfactory design improving the control ability and efficiency is achieved conclusively.

This paper proposes the maximum thrust design of slotted permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) using equivalent magnetizing current method (EMCM) considering slot effect. The genetic algorithm is used for optimization. The objective functions are selected for the maximum thrust and the minimum detent force. In this paper, design parameters are set as permanent magnet (PM) width, PM height, and slot width. Thrust is increased from 272[N] to 295[N] and detent force is decreased from 5[N] to 2.43[N] greatly in optimum design. Therefore, most thrust ripple has not been generated. Also, the results of 2D EMCM considering slot effect are compared with ones of experimental and finite element analysis

This paper deals with the characteristics of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor according to the permanent magnet arrangement. The thrust, detent force, normal force and lateral force are generated in the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor. The detent force and lateral force cause the vibration of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor. The 3-D FEM is used to consider the effect of the skew and the overhang effect. Simulation values are compared with experimental ones. Furthermore characteristics of vibration and efficiency are estimated by experiments.

The detent force by end-effect has a bad influence on moving coil type permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). So, the reduction of detent force by end-effect is especially required for improvement of thrust characteristics. In this paper, in order to reduce detent force by end-effect the auxiliary-teeth is installed at the end part of mover and it is optimized by using neural network

The operating characteristic of Moving Coil-Type LOA (MC-LOA) is changed by the construction of magnetic circuits and load conditions. This paper deals with single-pole type, single-sided multipole, and double-sided multipole according to permanent magnet arrangement. As load conditions, both constant load and variable are used in modeling. To investigate the operating characteristics for load conditions, characteristic analysis has been applied to these conditions. The Characteristic analysis is performed by two-dimensional (2-D) finite element analysis (FEA) batch process based on moving model node technique.

This paper deals with skew and overhang effects of permanent magnet in PMLSM. The detent force and thrust characteristics considering skew and overhang effects of permanent magnet are analyzed by 3D FEM and the results are compared to experimental values

In this paper, synchronous permanent magnet planar motor (SPMPM) with Halbach array is proposed for its high energy density. Genetic algorithm is applied to optimize the thrust of the proposed SPMPM based on six variables. The thrust is remarkably improved form 31.93[N] to 38.92[N]
