Synthesis and in vitro nematicidal activity of new chalcones vectorised by imidazopyridine

1 H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), 13 C NMR and electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectroscopy. All compounds have been evaluated in vitro for their anthelmintic activities against Haemonchus contortus . Compounds 5n, 5s, 5t and 5w showed a great nematicidal activity (LC 100 ) ranging between 0.0005 and 0.002 µg/ml. The activity of these four chalcones was equivalent to that of fenbendazole and ivermectin which were reference anthelmintic drugs. This study has shown that imidazopyridine-chalcone derivatives are promising candidates for the development of new anthelmintic agents.

Synthesis of novel thiazolobenzimidazoles

For the synthesis of novel thiazolo[3,2-a]benzimidazol-3-ones and thiazolo[3,2-a]benzimidazoles, two methods have been developed which afforded the target compounds in relatively good yields by a pot process. The reaction between 2-mercapto-1H-benzimidazoles, acetophenone derivatives and 4- methylcyclohexanone in acid medium gave the tricyclic and tetracyclic benzimidazole compounds. We have also studied the flexibility of the position-7 of the thiazolobenzimidazoles by introducing the nitro and the methyl group. All compounds were characterized by means of 1H, 13C NMR and mass spectroscopy. The structures of the isomers of the 3-(2-methoxyphenyl)-6-nitrobenzo [4,5] imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole 14a, separated by a selective crystallization from diethyl ether were confirmed by RX analysis. 1-(2-Methyl­imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-yl)-3,3-bis­(methyl­sulfan­yl)prop-2-enone monohydrate

The title compound, C13H14N2OS2·H2O, appears in the form of bimolecular aggregate in which molecular components are linked by O—H⋯N hydrogen bonding. The nine-membered imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine system is almost planar, with a mean deviation of 0.026 (1) Å. An intramolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bond forms within the imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine system. The crystal packing is consolidated by O—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a supramolecular structure consisting of perpendicular infinite molecular chains running along the a and c axes.
