It is shown that the spectrum of dipole radiation of the charge-dyon bound system described by both the Schrodinger and Pauli equations contains direct information on the spatial parity violation in electrodynamics with magnetic charge. The corresponding matrix elements are calculated.

The effective Lagrangian of QED coupled to dyons is calculated. The resulting generalization of the Euler-Heisenberg Lagrangian contains nonlinear P- and T-noninvariant terms corresponding to the virtual pair creation of dyons. The corresponding P- and T-violating part of the matrix element for light-by-light scattering is considered. This effect induces an electric dipole moment for the electron, of order M{sup {minus}2}, where M is the dyon mass. The current limit on the electric dipole moment of the electron yields the lower dyon mass bound M{gt}1 TeV. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}

The properties of the bound system charge-dyon (so-called “dyonium”) in the external electromagnetic field are considered. It is shown that the spectrum of dipole radiation of the dyonium contains direct information on spatial parity violation in electrodynamics with magnetic charge. It is found that the P noninvariance of this system leads to essential differences between the Stark and Zeeman effects for a hydrogen atom and those for dyogen. The photoionization process of the hydrogen-like atom in the field of the magnetic charge is calculated. It is shown that the corresponding angular distribution of the photoelectron has an essential asymmetry due to the P parity breaking.

The spontaneous emission rate for the bound system charge-dyon is calculated. It is shown that the magnetic monopole field leads to a significant increase of the rate of radiative processes.

The radiative corrections to the spectrum of the bound charge-dyon system are considered in the framework of the self-field QED as well as in the Pauli approximation.

Abstract It is shown that s satisfactory description of the monopole-line-current interaction can be obtained by means of a multivalued potential which is non-invariant under spatial reflections. It leads after quantization to the appearance of a θ-term in the corresponding Lagrangian.

The dynamic scalar polarizability of the electric charge-dyon bound system is calculated. It is shown that the contribution of the usually forbidden dipole transitions with P parity breaking is of the same order as that of the allowed dipole transitions.
