Microstrip phased array antennas obtained by the association of two interdigitated biperiodic coplanar subarrays are presented. One of these two subarrays is fed, and the other is parasitic. This type of array is studied for rectangular or triangular patches, using an infinite phased array model for the theoretical approach. The frequency bandwidth obtained with this geometry is larger than that of conventional monolayer microstrip antennas. >

Abstruct-A finite difference method is used to analyse the SAW scattering from overlaid short-circuits on the surface of a LiNbOJ crystal. From this analysis, information is obtained about reflection from some elementary geometries such as a short-circuit edge, a strip or two strips, and equivalent circuit models are proposed. These equivalent circuit models are used to compute the reflection from periodic arrays of strips. The influence of both periodicity and metallization ratio is investigated.

The scattering of a surface acoustic wave reaching a metallized surface region of a piezoelectric crystal is investigated by a numerical finite‐difference method. The perturbation of the electric potential in the discontinuity neighborhood is shown, and the surface wave reflection is determined.

Absrrocr-The crossed-field model is used as a basis for a formulation of the terminal behavior of multiphase transducers which includes emphasis on the acoustic ports. The resulting terminal matrices are dimensionless, real, finite at all frequencies, computationally convenient, and general in the sense that, within the limitations of the model chosen, most transducer geometries proposed to date can be treated by the matrix with terms determinable explicitly from the given transducer geometry and substrate. While it may not be the most convenient form of analysis for any specific geometry, the formulation gives a basis of comparison of transducer types which has a common notation and a common set of approximations. The scattering matrices as a function of frequency of a few prototype examples of two-port unidirectional transducers are included as examples of the procedure.

AbstractWhen all the radiating elements of an array antenna are fed with the same magnitude and the same phase, the radiating pattern can be modified only by changing the positions of sources. We present here two synthesis of such arrays, where radiating elements are identical square microstrip patch antennas. In the first synthesis we assume that source positions may be on a continuous domain, with the only limitation that sources does not overlap. In the second synthesis, the sources positions may be only on a discrete regular set.

AbstractOn studies of propagation and scattering phenomena by numerical methods, one of the difficulties encountered is the physical interpretation of the great number of numerical values obtained. A clear and easy interpretation of such results is presented here, by using graphic techniques.
