Resume Introduction. – Les auteurs ont analyse les donnees cliniques, biologiques, endoscopiques et l’evolution de six nourrissons âges de moins de 3 mois ayant presente des rectorragies persistantes isolees en etant exclusivement allaites. Resultats. – Deux filles et quatre garcons ont presente des rectorragies isolees mais recurrentes a un âge compris entre 1 et 2 mois. Chaque enfant a eu une rectosigmoidoscopie entre 1 et 3,2 mois. L’endoscopie montrait une congestion muqueuse (6 fois), des plages ecchymotiques et petechiales (4 fois) et des intervalles de muqueuse saine (5 fois). L’aspect microscopique a mis en evidence un infiltrat a eosinophiles pour cinq enfants. L’evolution a ete favorable 5 fois apres l’exclusion des proteines de lait de vache de l’alimentation maternelle et uniquement apres sevrage du lait maternel dans un cas. Tous les enfants ont ete nourris avec un hydrolysât de proteines de lait de vache au moment du sevrage et la reintroduction des proteines de lait de vache a pu etre realisee entre 6 et 23 mois. Conclusion. – L’allergie alimentaire peut etre incluse dans les causes de rectocolite y compris en cas d’allaitement maternel exclusif. Les manifestations ont une evolution en regle benigne.

Iron deficiency remains a problem in developing countries as well as in industrial nations. The prevalence of iron deficiency in children under 5 years of age is identical in Europe and the USA, and is in the order of 7 to 9% on average with an anaemia prevalence of 2.3%. The major cause is dietary deficiency, particularly in premature babies, infants, teenagers, and children in unstable situations. It is important to prevent the development of anaemia, especially in infants, due to its morbid consequences particularly with respect to development. Screening and simple preventative measures (iron supplements and dietary advice) need to be systematically set up, particularly in at-risk populations, and are detailed in the present article.
