Documentação digital da arte rupestre: apresentação e avaliação do método em dois sítios de Monte Alegre, Amazônia, Brasil

Documentation is one of the most important aspects in the study of rock art. In Brazil, there are few studies that present the methods and techniques employed for the documentation of this kind of archaeological vestige. Most studies published in this country focus on classifications, terminology, chrono-stylistic definitions, interpretations and comparisons between graphical groups. Currently, digital photography and image manipulation softwares are very useful tools for the accurate documentation of rock art. This article presents the results of the application in the Amazon of a digital tracing method developed by the Department of Archaeology and Prehistory, University of Valencia, Spain.

O Museu Goeldi e a pesquisa arqueológica: um panorama dos últimos dezessete anos (1991-2008)

The paper presents an overview of the recent history (1991-2008) of the Archaeology Department in the Goeldi Museum (Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi), with all its contributions for the archaeology of Amazonia. In order to assemble this overview, the research work undertaken, the formation of human resources, the various aspects related to the growth of and research on the collection housed in the institution, and infrastructural factors were all considered.
