A new experimental transient approach is proposed for multifilar connector characterization and more particularly for the scattering parameters evaluation and the maximum electrical field radiation estimation. This paper describes the analysis principle used to calculate the scattering parameters (S/sub ij/) of the connector, and the method proposed for electrical field magnitude estimation. Thereafter, the experimental setup and the calibration procedure for the multifilar measurement is explained. Finally, measurements using a vector network analyzer show the efficiency of the transient test setup.

A complete electrical wire link between equipment boxes is analyzed using a theoretical method based on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm. This paper describes how the asymmetry of the transmission line created by different terminations has a direct impact on the radiation level. Thereafter, a transient experimental method is proposed to evaluate the behavior of localized defects on transmission links. The transient results lead to (S) parameters and radiation power. Simulations using the FDTD method validate the experimentation.

Many studies were devoted to the analysis and the detection of electromagnetic attacks against critical electronic systems at the system or the component levels. Some attempts have been made to correlate effects scenarios with events logged by the kernel of the operating system (OS) of commercial-off-the-shelf computer running Windows. Due to the closed principle of the last OS, we decided to perform such an analysis on a computer running a Linux distribution in which a complete access to logs is available. It will be demonstrated that a computer running such an open OS allows detecting the perturbations induced by intentional electromagnetic interferences at different levels of the targeted computer.

Theoretical and experimental transient methods are proposed for connector characterization and more particularly for radiation evaluation. From transients results scattering parameters, the radiation losses are deduced. These techniques are applied to pigtail coaxial cable connections and to a 15 pins SUBD connector. They show that the pigtail coaxial cable junction position has a dominant effect on radiation.

This paper describes the outdoor transient measurement base using cylindrical coordinates system. This measurement base will be used for antennas characterization, particularly in the determination of the electric far field of any type of radiating source.

Theoretical and experimental transient methods are proposed for radiation evaluation of localized defect on transmission link. From transient results S parameters and radiation losses are deduced. These techniques are applied to slot characterization on coaxial cable shield.

Theoretical and experimental transient methods are proposed for radiation evaluation of localized defects on transmission links (such as a slot on a coaxial cable shield). Thereafter, a complete electrical link between equipment boxes is analyzed. This paper describes how the asymmetry of the transmission line created by different terminations has a direct impact on the level of the radiation.
