The Ten Most Frequent Causes of Simulation Analysis Failure- and How To Avoid Them !

Joseph S. Annino; Edward C. Russell

Simulation analysis studies too often fail to yield use ful results, and the reasons for failure are frequently the same. This paper states the ten most common causes of failure and outlines the principles for overcoming them.

SIMSCRIPT II.5 and MODSIM II: A brief introduction

Edward C. Russell

The SIMSCRIPT II.5 and MODSIM II programming languages are described. SIMSCRIPT II.5 with its integrated graphical interface, SIMGRAPHICS, substantially reduces time and effort in simulation model development. Its English-like syntax improves readability of the code and substantially reduces the need for documentation. MODSIM II is a modern object-oriented language with built-in support for simulation that also has an integrated graphical interface. It is a compiled language which is available for most systems, including mainframes, workstations, and PCs. The built-in object-oriented constructs of MODSIM II include single and multiple inheritance, dynamic binding of objects, polymorphism, data abstraction and information hiding.<<ETX>>

SIMSCRIPT II.5 tutorial

Edward C. Russell

This tutorial will present the highlights of the SIMSCRIPT II.5 approach to building discrete event simulation models. The approach will be to construct a small example problem, implement the program in SIMSCRIPT II.5, and then to display the modularity which is possible with SIMSCRIPT by adding several “real-world” complexities to the model.
