Comments on the paper by B. M. Hausein et. al: 5,8-dihydroxyflavone (primetin) the contact sensitizer of Primula mistassinica Michaux

B. M. Hausen; Edward G. Voss

Sir, concerning our article on the allergenic properties of Primula mistassinica, Michaux [Arch Dermatol Res 275:365 (1983)] and its constituent we must announce a short correction. As indicated on the map of Soper et al. (cited as reference [24] in our paper) Primula mistassinicia does not grow in the Chicago area. Since neither the geographic range, nor habit, nor suggestion as to height of the plant studied by Dr. H. A. Sharpe in 1912 is appropiate for P. mistassinica, his investigation must have been on some other kind of species, which is impossible to determine subsequently.
