Abstract: In multi-tier distribution, in addition to suppliers and consumers there are also intermediaries who participate in the transfer of products from manufacturers to end consumers. The choice of the distribution system depends on the optimisation of the performance indicators for servicing an area, taking into account the technical capabilities of the individual logistics chain links. The paper compares two typical distribution structures in the construction sector. The choice of the structure is a function of the manufacturer’s economic and organisational determinants. The paper presents a model representing the costs of two typical distribution structures in the construction sector. The choice of the structure depends on the company’s outsourcing policy and total costs of all three major system components: the distribution network, transport network, and warehousing. Rationally built and implemented functioning models are a key element of business success in the marketplace. The choice of a suitable strategy is difficult, as it depends on many dynamically changing parameters which directly affect costs. In addition, the relations between the system elements are very complex and interdependent

The role and tasks of production logistics in an enterprise depends on many factors, as well as the appropriate definition of logistics. Development of the concept of supply chains has caused a broader view of logistics. The fundamental goal of production logistics can thus be formulated as the pursuance of greater delivery capability and reliability with the lowest possible logistic and production cost. Currently, the integration of production planning with logistics become more common in many companies. Production systems are special performance systems which transform input material into physical goods. As logistic networks supply the input and distribute the output of production systems, production and logistics are closely interrelated. Many designers still do not take into account the supply chain and does not use the system approach. Interesting approach is proposed as part of Lean enterprises. It requires a determination of value stream, then the mapping and improvement.

The paper analyses the Kanban system introduced at a company manufacturing multiple types of rotors for electricity-powered engines. The system comprises two loops of Kanban cards: the production card loop and transport card loop. The main assumptions for the system is the capacity minimisation for buffers between operations and streamlining the information flow between individual production cells. The analyses use the 7M, 5S and SMED methods, as well as a combination of the ABC and XYZ classification methods for materials. The introduction of the Kanban system significantly reduced warehouse stocks and improved communication between individual production lines.
