Design of horizontal seismic sensor with spherical inverted pendulum and magnetic levitation

Mohammad Rohmanuddin; Eko Mursito Budi; Rakhmadian Purnama

This paper presents the design and experiments of a two-dimensional horizontal seismic sensor with spherical inverted pendulum and magnetic levitation. This pendulum become stable in vertical position due to the magnetic levitation, which is created by two magnetic rings composed by many small magnetic structures encircle the pendulum, with the same type of poles face to the same direction. The effectiveness of the sensor has been examined in detecting earthquakes sensed in the city of Bandung during the second half year of 2010. Two earthquakes signal from two different origin captured on 29 November 2010 and on 4 April 2011 are presented in this paper. Qualitatively, the two earthqukes can be clearly distinguished by comparing the amplitudes.

The development of swarm control on quadrotor with visual localization and proportional-integral velocity controller

Estiyanti Ekawati; Eko Mursito Budi; Faqihza Mukhlish; Nova Mahendra Putra; Reza Prasetyo

This paper presents the design and implementation of Boid algorithm with proportional — integral controller to control the velocity of quadrotor which uses a camera-based localization method. The algorithm consists of three rules: cohesion, separation, and alignment in order to mimic the behavior of groups of animals such as bird colonies. The control action was applied to achieve a reference velocity and the controller parameters were obtained using Ziegler-Nichols tuning method. The localization method utilized sixteen combinations of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black color markers. These markers provide coordinate information for the quadrotor.

Musical gesture recognition for interactive angklung robot

Eko Mursito Budi; Ari Angga Rochim; Hermawan Kresno Dipojono; Andrianto Handojo; Joko Sarwono

Angklung is traditional musical instrument from Indonesia that is usually played by many people. In an interactive playing session, a conductor may lead the players by using a special hand sign. It would be a good idea to use the same hand sign to command a musical robot, and thus a gesture recognition system was required. The system was built based on a kinect sensor. This paper reveals how to make use the data from the sensor for faster and more reliable recognition system.

Development of seismic sensor application using micro electromechanical systems

Mohammad Rohmanuddin; Eko Mursito Budi; Fikri Ferdiana

The development of MEMS accelerometer application as seismic sensor is discussed in this paper. The system consists of a sensor signal conditioning, microcontroller circuits, and application programs for data acquisition system. Two capacitive type sensors are used in the system. With the most recent technology of MEMS, it is possible to construct an integrated seismometer using only one chip of MEMS sensor, which traditionally three separated sensors must be employed. From the experiment using calibrating signal, it is shown that the the sensitivity of the system could be increased by the factor of two.

Jawa: A Java Tool-Kit for Mobile Objects Applications

Eko Mursito Budi; Geoff Roy; Graeme R. Cole

Jawa is a Java tool-kit for distributed applications development. It provides an infrastructure for automatic management of remote computers, and a framework for mobile objects applications development. The scheduling and migration of mobile objects to remote computers utilizes the parallelism and scheduling principles; in which a Jawa based application may expect performance improvements. More over, Jawa also simplifies the development cycle of its respective application.
