The press in Catalonia: between the digital challenge and nation building

This article discusses the challenges facing the Catalan press in a context marked by the digitization and by a political process that demands independence. The media landscape in Catalonia is populated by media produced at Spanish level and at Catalan level, and this applies to the press, radio and television. Mainstream paid-for newspapers, available to the citizens of Catalonia produced at a national, regional, local or state level, whether written in Catalan or Spanish merit discussion. This kind of press is the most influential in the shaping of Catalonian public opinion and therefore plays a central role in the political debate on independence. In this context, newspapers in Catalonia are facing the crisis of the print-only business model and falling revenues from a declining readership base and the subsequent fall of advertising revenue. To face this problem, newspaper publishers are throwing themselves into digital strategies (web, tablet, mobile phones).

Ficción televisiva en Europa (EU5): origen, circulación de productos y puesta en parrilla

La circulacion de contenidos de ficcion entre paises y mercados televisivos se ha diversificado gracias a la multiplicacion de canales y formas de acceso y consumo. A pesar de la facilidad, la ubicuidad y la universalidad de acceso, la television lineal en abierto sigue siendo el medio hegemonico en los grandes mercados europeos. Los procesos cambiantes de consumo de television coinciden con el auge de la ficcion seriada televisiva que se inicio en Estados Unidos, pero que se ha extendido a otros mercados internacionales y, con especial enfasis, al mercado europeo. En esta investigacion se observan los flujos de contenidos de ficcion en los cinco grandes mercados europeos de Alemania, Espana, Francia, Italia y el Reino Unido, y se analizan en que forma el entorno cambiante afecta a las estrategias programaticas de la ficcion. Se realiza un analisis de contenido de 26 canales generalistas.
