As wireless technology advances, demand for spectrum bandwidth increases and thus, spectrum has become scarce. As a scarce resource, spectrum bandwidths need to be efficiently allocated to potential service providers. Hence, this paper first reviews current approaches on how spectrum bandwidths are being allocated to the service providers. Then we present an efficient integrated approach in allocating spectrum volumes, whereby the approaches of Analytic Hierarchy Process and Integer Programming are integrated and applied to produce systematic and consistent allocation results. The integrated approach is able to cater multi-criteria problems through determination of suitable weights and computations, which exhibits a more efficient alternative as compared to the existing approaches. The illustrations revealed that the integrated approach indeed has the potential to be implemented and gives an alternative to the current existing approaches.

Economic tour package model using heuristic

Syariza Abdul Rahman; Aida Mauziah Benjamin; Engku Muhammad Nazri Engku Abu Bakar

A tour-package is a prearranged tour that includes products and services such as food, activities, accommodation, and transportation, which are sold at a single price. Since the competitiveness within tourism industry is very high, many of the tour agents try to provide attractive tour-packages in order to meet tourist satisfaction as much as possible. Some of the criteria that are considered by the tourist are the number of places to be visited and the cost of the tour-packages. Previous studies indicate that tourists tend to choose economical tour-packages and aiming to visit as many places as they can cover. Thus, this study proposed tour-package model using heuristic approach. The aim is to find economical tour-packages and at the same time to propose as many places as possible to be visited by tourist in a given geographical area particularly in Langkawi Island. The proposed model considers only one starting point where the tour starts and ends at an identified hotel. This study covers 31 most attrac...

Application of Choquet integral in solving multi-attribute decision making problems

Anath Rau Krishnan; Maznah Mat Kasim; Engku Muhammad Nazri Engku Abu Bakar

Aggregation is one of the imperative phases in solving a multi-attribute decision making (MADM) problems where the performance values of each choice will be composed into single score. Based on these final scores, the decision maker (DM) will make the decision by selecting, ranking or sorting the choices. The major issue in aggregation phase is most of the DMs are being ignorant or insensitive to the aspect of interaction between evaluation criteria while aggregating the performance values. Therefore, this paper intended to offer an appraisal on definition and several properties of aggregation operator, types of aggregation operator, and finally suggests Choquet integral operator and its associated fuzzy measure as the most appropriate tool in solving MADM problems. The suggested operator considers the interaction among evaluation criteria during aggregation. A simple numerical example is presented to emphasize the advantage of Choquet integral. However, the complexity of applying Choquet integral is discussed as well to provide some indications for future study.
