Note: Evaluating insecticides for the control of overwintered adults ofEurygaster integriceps under field conditions in Turkey

The Sunn pestEurygaster integriceps Puton is the most harmful pest of cereals in Turkey and the surrounding countries. Chemical control has been employed against the nymph stages of the pest. The efficacy of six products [acetamiprid (SL, soluble concentrate), chlorpyrifosethyl (EC, emulsifiable concentrate), lambda-cyhalothrin (CS, capsule suspension), monocrotophos (SC, suspension concentrate), thiacloprid (SC) and zeta-cypermethrin (EC)] was tested on overwintered adults ofE. integriceps, with applications to wheat at the shooting stage. In a study conducted at Siverek, Şanlıurfa in the southeastern Anatolia Region, the most effective insecticide was found to be lambda-cyhalothrin. It gave very promising results in controlling the pest and reduced subsequent egg laying and the appearance of nymphs in the trial area. The results showed that chemical control of overwintered adults of the Sunn pest in early spring is possible with lambda-cyhalothrin.

Checklist of Iranian Trissolcus Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Platygastroidea: Scelionidae: Telenominae)

This paper summarises Iranian records of the genus Trissolcus Ashmead 1893 (Hymenoptera: Platygastroidea: Scelionidae). In total, 19 species are now known. One of these, Trissolcus crypticus Clarke, is a new record for Iran. In addition, the paper provides synonyms, hosts and distributional data for all the species.

Mortality of Isaria farinosa and Beauveria bassiana on sunn pests Eurygaster integriceps and Eurygaster austriaca

The effects of Isaria farinosa (Holm.) and Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) on adult stages of sunn pests Eurygaster integriceps Puton and Eurygaster austriaca (Schrk.) were investigated at 27±1°C, 95% r.h. and 16L:8D in the laboratory. Two concentrations, 1×106 and 1×108 conidia ml-1, were used. Mortality of inoculated and non-inoculated adults was counted at 6, 9 and 12 days after treatment. Beauveria bassiana caused higher mortality of both species than I. farinosa. Neither caused significantly high mortality at 1×106 conidia ml-1. Both were more pathogenic at 1×108 conidia ml-1 and caused more than 85% mortality 12 days post treatment. Both were more pathogenic to E. austriaca.

Orta Anadolu Bölgesi’nde buğdayda Avrupa Sünesi (Eurygaster maura L. Hemiptera: Scutelleridae)’nin neden olduğu ürün kayıpları ve ekonomik zarar eşiğinin belirlenmesi

Orta Anadolu Bolgesi’nde Sune ( Eurygaster maura L. Hemiptera: Scutelleridae)’nin bugdayda meydana getirdigi urun kayiplari ve mucadelesinde uygulanacak ekonomik zarar esigini belirlemek amaciyla doga kosullarinda yurutulen calismalar sonucunda; kislamis erginlerin meydana getirdigi kurtbogazi zararinin gorulmedigi, akbasak zararinin ise mucadeleye gerek duyulmayacak oranda (0.09) oldugu belirlenmistir. Nimf ve yeni nesil erginlerin tanede beslenmesi nedeniyle kalite yonuyle olusan kayiplarin kantite yonuyle olusan kayiplara gore cok daha dusuk zararli yogunluklarinda meydana geldigi saptanmistir. Ekonomik zarar esigini belirlemek icin tanenin zarar gorme orani (emgi orani) temel alinmis, bu oranin m 2’ deki zararli ve basak sayisi ile basaktaki tane adedine bagli olarak degistigi ortaya konmustur. Orta Anadolu Bolgesi’nde uzun yillar ortalama iklim kosullarinda m 2’ de ortalama 407 adet basak, basaktaki tane sayisinin 26 adet ve bugdayin kalitesini bozan kabul edilebilir ust emgi oranin da %3.5 olarak alindiginda ekonomik zarar esiginin 7 adet m -2 nimf olarak alinmasina, ancak sune mucadelesi zamanina kadar bugdayin verimini etkileyen iklim kosullari da degerlendirilerek, gerekirse ekonomik zarar esiginde o yila ozgu revize yapilmasinin uygun olacagi ortaya konulmustur.
