ABSTRACT GOLF IS A POPULAR SPORT ATTRACTING PARTICIPATION FROM ALL AGE GROUPS. THE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROFESSIONAL WILL OFTEN ENCOUNTER GOLFERS WHO ARE LOOKING TO IMPROVE THEIR GAME THROUGH ROTATIONAL POWER DEVELOPMENT. BY GAINING A SOUND UNDERSTANDING OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF ROTATIONAL POWER IN THE GOLFER, THE EXERCISE PROFESSIONAL WILL BE BETTER ABLE TO ADDRESS THIS NEED. THE PURPOSE OF THIS ARTICLE IS TO DISCUSS POWER DEVELOPMENT PRINCIPLES, ADDRESS GOLF-SPECIFIC POWER DEVELOPMENT, AND GIVE SOME SPECIFIC EXERCISE OPTIONS THAT CAN BE IMPLEMENTED.

AS PART 2 OF A SERIES, THIS COLUMN PRESENTS ECCENTRIC SHOULDER EXTERNAL ROTATOR EXERCISES APPLICABLE TO BOTH THE ASYMPTOMATIC AND INJURED POPULATION.

ABSTRACT OSTEOPOROSIS IS A COMMON CONDITION THAT CAN AFFECT BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, TYPICALLY AFTER THE FOURTH DECADE OF LIFE. OFTEN, PHYSICIANS ADVISE PATIENTS DIAGNOSED WITH OSTEOPOROSIS TO EXERCISE, BUT FREQUENTLY OFFER NO SPECIFICS. BY GAINING A SOUND UNDERSTANDING OF THE MECHANISM INVOLVED WITH OSTEOPOROSIS, THE EXERCISE PROFESSIONAL WILL BE BETTER SUITED TO DESIGN EXERCISE AND INJURY PREVENTION PROGRAMS FOR THIS CLIENT POPULATION. THE PURPOSE OF THIS MANUSCRIPT IS TO DEFINE OSTEOPOROSIS, REVIEW THE DIAGNOSTIC PROCESS, AND DISCUSS TREATMENT OPTIONS WITH AN EMPHASIS ON EXERCISE INTERVENTIONS.
