Isolation and Crystallisation of L-Asparaginase from E. coli

Erich Rauenbusch; Klaus Bauer; Wilfried Kaufmann; Otto Wagner

In summer of 1967 the first reports of remissions of acute leukemia in patients treated with L-asparaginase extracted from E. coli were published in the USA [9]. But these were only rare cases owing to the scarcity of the pure enzyme. It was therefore necessary to develop a technical process for the production of the enzyme.
