Schumann-runge bands of O2 trapped in solid matrices☆

Abstract A comparison of the dimensions of the trapping site in solid Xe, Kr, Ar and Ne to that in solid N2 leads to new assignments for the vibrational terms of the B3Σu−←X3Σg− transition of the oxygen molecule trapped in matrices. The anomalous shape previously found, in the argon matrix, for the potential energy curve of the excited state B3Σu− is corrected. The Lennard—Jones intermolecular potential parameters are derived for this excited state.

Absolute cross sections of ozone at atmospheric temperatures for the Wulf and the Chappuis bands

Ozone absorption constitutes a variable background against which measurement of pollution is observed from satellites by the solar occultation technique. The temperature-altitude gradient of ozone spans the range 180-340 K. Laboratory measurements of ozone absorption at temperatures across this range are needed to calibrate spectroscopic remote sensing, but have yielded results in substantial disagreement with each other. This paper presents the first measurements of the variation of absorption cross-sections of ozone at temperatures from 144 to 300 K over the 9250-18 500 cm(-1) spectral region.

Absorption spectra of cesium halides at 20 K from 12 to 20 eV

Abstract The optical absorption down to 20 K of thin films of Cs-halides are reported in the energy range from 12 to 20 eV. The multiple structure in the optical spectra of CsI at low temperature can be explained by the excitons associated with the s -like and d -like conduction band states at the Г point. Spectra of CsBr and CsC1 can be understood by analogy with CsI.
