Comments on a new laser emission at 0.774 mm wavelength from ICN

Abstract A new stimulated emission at 0.774 mm wavelength from ICN is reported. It cannot be explained by the laser mechanism suggested by Chantry et al. Thus we have looked for an explanation based on interelectronic transitions of the CN-radical.

Stimulated emission up to 0.538 mm wavelength from cyanic compounds

Abstract We have observed stimulated emission at the wavelengths 0.310 mm, 0.336 mm and 0.538 mm in the cyanic compounds CH3CN, C6H5CN, CH3SCN, C2H5OCN, NH2CN, BrCN, ICN. The emissions could be attributed to rotational transitions in the electronic ground state of the CN-radical.

Mechanism of the submillimeter laser emissions from the CN - radical

Abstract A new laser emission at 0.676 mm wavelength from ICN has been found. The theories of Chantry et al. and Broida et al. cannot explain this nor the other observed submillimeter laser emissions. We propose a new laser mechanism for the CN-radical is in good agreement with the experimental data.
