Abstract We report two exceptionnal complications in the evolution of a Churg and Strauss disease in a 32 year old man: 1) a fibrosis of cavernous body (Peyronies disease) — 2) occurrence of an aortic insufficiency- Both this complications probably related to an alteration of connective tissue associated with Churg and Strauss disease.

We report a case of aortic mycotic aneurysm with corresponding spondylodiscitis in a patient on steroids for dermatopolymyositis. Physiopathological mechanisms of these two conditions and interest of imaging methods (body scan, IRM) to help diagnosis are discussed.

We report a case of RPF as a complication of an infection of the graft prosthesis. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging prove to be useful in forwarding arguments in favour of a graft infection: they may reveal periprosthetic gas or perigraft fluid persisting for several months after surgery. However they may fail when they are performed too early and in these cases they need to be performed a second time.

A 59 year old woman has been presenting for 6 years an aggressive systemic mastocytosis with hypereosinophilia. Classic treatment failed and a combined treatment with hydroxycarbamide and alpha interferon led to an improvement in symptoms and to a decrease of the hypereosinophilia.

We report lethal fetal malformations, with diaphragmatic agenesia, lens cataract and facial dysmorphia in a newborn child from a 26 year old woman with a severe sicca syndrome and SSA and SSB antinuclear antibodies. Atrio-ventricular block, which was mising in this case, may be only one of the fetal complications linked to anti-SSA antibodies.

The effects of 3 different low molecular weight heparins (LMWH) on thrombine-antithrombine complexes (TAT) and D-dimers (DD) have been compared on 94 patients. There was no significant difference between the 3 LMWH on TAT nor DD.

Ribomunyl® is a mixture of bacterial ribosomes and membrane proteoglycanes used to increase anti-infectious immunity. A patient with chronic arthritis and high levels of anti nuclear antibodies received 4 sc injections of Ribomunyl. Each injection induced fever and the last one cutaneous vasculitis, phlebitis and multiple lung embols. These side-effects may be related to the use of Ribomunyl in a patient with antoimmune disease.

The authors present the case of a 78-year old woman who presented with purely articular reducible deformity of the hands without bone involvement, associated with several elements of CREST syndrome, presence of antinuclear antibodies and scleroderma of the face. A diagnosis of Jaccouds non-erosive deforming arthropathy was made, based on suggestive clinical and radiological lesions of the hands. Patients with this disease should be investigated for connective tissue disease and not only SLE.

Five cases of intra-alveolar haemorrhage (IAH) occuring in the course of autoimmune diseases are reported. All patients were women aged from 17 to 69 years. Autoantibodies were present in only 2/5 cases. Four patients died within 20 days despite antibiotic and corticosteroid therapy, associated with plasma exchanges in 2 cases. The severity of IAH is stressed and recommendations concerning treatment are made.
