Fuzzy decision making: A bibliometric-based review

Fabio Blanco-Mesa; José M. Merigó; Anna M. Gil-Lafuente

Fuzzy decision-making consists in making decisions under complex and uncertain environments where the information can be assessed with fuzzy sets and systems. The aim of this study is to review the main contributions in this field by using a bibliometric approach. For doing so, the article uses a wide range of bibliometric indicators including the citations and the h-index. Moreover, it also uses the VOS viewer software in order to map the main trends in this area. The work considers the leading journals, articles, authors and institutions. The results indicate that the USA was the traditional leader in this field with the most significant researcher. However, during the last years, this field is receiving more attention by Asian authors that are starting to lead the field. This discipline has a strong potential and the expectations for the future is that it will continue to grow

Thirty years of the international journal of intelligent systems: a bibliometric review

José M. Merigó; Fabio Blanco-Mesa; Anna M. Gil-Lafuente; Ronald R. Yager

The International Journal of Intelligent Systems was created in 1986. Today, the journal is 30 years old. To celebrate this anniversary, this study develops a bibliometric review of all of the papers published in the journal between 1986 and 2015. The results are largely based on the Web of Science Core Collection, which classifies leading bibliographic material by using several indicators including total number of publications and citations, the h‐index, cites per paper, and citing articles. The work also uses the VOS viewer software for visualizing the main results through bibliographic coupling and co‐citation. The results show a general overview of leading trends that have influenced the journal in terms of highly cited papers, authors, journals, universities and countries.

Fabio Blanco-Mesa; José M. Merigó; Janusz Kacprzyk

Bonferroni means with OWA operators and distance measures.Bonferroni means with the adequacy coefficient and the index of maximum and minimum levels.Bonferroni means with moving averages.Bonferroni means in group theory with Moores families and Galois lattice. An application in an entrepreneurial decision making problem. The aim of the paper is to develop new aggregation operators using Bonferroni means, OWA operators and some distance measure. We introduce the BON-OWAAC and BON-OWAIMAM operators. We are able to include coefficient adequacy and the maximum and minimum levels in the same formulation with Bonferroni means and an OWA operator. The main advantages of using these operators are that they allow consideration of continuous aggregations, multiple comparisons between each argument and distance measures in the same formulation. An application is developed using these new algorithms in combination with Moores families and Galois lattices to solve group decision-making problems. The professional and personal interests of the entrepreneurs who share co-working spaces are taken as an example for establishing relationships and groups. According to the professional and personal profile affinities for each entrepreneur, the results show dissimilarity and fuzzy relationships and the maximum similarity sub-relations to establish relationships and groups using Moores families and Galois lattice. Finally, this new type of distance family can be used for applications in areas such as sports teams, strategy marketing and teamwork.

Bonferroni distances with OWA operators

Fabio Blanco-Mesa; José M. Merigó-Lindahl

The aim of the paper is to develop new aggregation operators using Bonferroni means, ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operators and some distance measures. We introduce the Bonferroni-Hamming weighted distance, Bonferroni OWA distance, and Bonferroni distances with OWA operators and weighted averages. The main advantages of using these operators are that they allow considering different aggregations contexts, multiple-comparison between each argument and distance measures in the same formulation.

New Aggregation Methods for Decision-Making in the Selection of Business Opportunities

Fabio Blanco-Mesa; Anna M. Gil-Lafuente; José M. Merigó

We analyse decision-making process in the selection of business opportunities. A new mathematical application based on OWA operator and selection index is developed. We consider the use of the OWA distance (OWAD), the OWA adequacy coefficient (OWAAC) and the OWA index of maximum and minimum level OWAIMAM operators. The study proposes a fuzzy significance vector (FS), which can aggregate information according to the importance of its characteristics. The introduction of the selection OWA operator using fuzzy significance vector can reflect decision with different degrees of optimism through normalization process where the maximum value of the aggregated information can be higher than 1. These methods are called FS-OWAAC, FS-OWAD and FS-OWAIMAM operator. By using FS-OWA operator, we can parameterize attitudinal character of decisor and the importance of characteristics of the information. A numerical example is developed in decision-making process for the selection of opportunities to start a new business within different sectors according to preference of decisor and environmental factors.

The Forgotten Effects of Sport

Anna M. Gil-Lafuente; Fabio Blanco-Mesa; César Castillo-López

The concern for the increase in chronic diseases, urban violence and armed conflicts, promoting the development of nations and education have become increasingly. Sports and physical activity are taking more importance as social and economic aims of governments and corporations, such are economic resources provided are significant. However, in these times of economic uncertainty and austerity major cuts were made on budgets related to the welfare of people, therefore, are necessary tools for the decision making of available resources to be optimized, to generated multiplier effect and greatest benefit to populations. The theory of Forgotten Effects is used in the analysis of overall causes in sports and physical activity, the effects they have on society and which can produce a significant social benefit. The conclusion of the paper shows those incidents that can generate greater social benefit.

A Paradigm Shift in Business Valuation Process Using Fuzzy Logic

Anna M. Gil-Lafuente; César Castillo-López; Fabio Blanco-Mesa

The aim of this paper is proposing an overview of valuation of companies’ process, associated to uncertainty modelization. This exposition represents a paradigm shift in the significance of what today we understand as valuation of a company. Through previous investigation published about finance literature, we prove there’s still a long way to investigate on valuation methodology in terms of fuzzy methodology. The result given in this paper represents a new working line for researchers in the valuation field, and in general, for the scientific community, who wants to study further on value of business organizations, taking into account drivers, elements and variables, than common valuation models don’t consider in the calculations. The exposition, which we propose by construction, is set like a fundamental axis to reach the higher efficiency levels in the valuation process.

Dynamics of stakeholder relations with multi-person aggregation

Fabio Blanco-Mesa; Anna M. Gil-Lafuente; José M. Merigó

The purpose of this paper is to develop a novel method to analyse dynamic interactions of stakeholders to explain how a set of agents can act by considering the power/influence positions.,A novel mathematical application uses the importance of characteristics algorithm in combination with composition max-min to compare, group and order information according to the importance of its characteristics. The mathematical application is focused on a strategic analysis, evaluating stakeholder dynamics through power relationships.,The results show a comparison of the relationships among each of the stakeholders to obtain the relative intensity and importance of relationships between them, given by the fuzzy matrix FRInM and the fuzzy matrix FRIM, respectively. This application provides a useful tool for a dynamic analysis of stakeholders in a complex environment, where the best approach to performing a strategic analysis process is sought.,The main implication of the proposed approach is taking into account the importance of information to establish the boundaries and relationships of each characteristic according to its intensity. However, limitations are due to the nature of this research, based on theoretical assumptions regarding stakeholders and the use of a hypothetical example to show the operation of algorithms.,The primary advantage of this proposition is that it takes into account the importance of information to establish the relationships among the characteristics according to their intensity. In addition, it performs multiple comparisons among each characteristic of the information. The interests and opinions of decision makers can be parameterised. A mathematical application shows how each interest group could be classified and related according to subjective information.
