Modelling complex manufacturing systems using discrete event simulation

Bernard J. Schroer; Fan T. Tseng

Abstract This paper presents an approach in simulating complex manufacturing systems. The approach is founded on developing several general purpose simulation generators for an assembly station, a manufacturing cell, and an inventory transfer function. These simulation generators can then be linked together to create a model of a complex manufacturing system. A typical manufacturing system is modelled using these simulation generators and the results summarized.

An intelligent assistant for manufacturing system simulation

Bernard J. Schroer; Fan T. Tseng

This paper discusses the coupling of an intelligent assistant with the simulation of manufacturing systems. Included in this paper are a description of the traditional simulation approach, simulation using an intelligent user interface to define the simulation model, an automatic program generator to write the simulation code in the target simulation language and the development of the Automatic Manufacturing Programming System (AMPS).

Automatic programming assistant for network simulation models

Fan T. Tseng; Shou X. Zhang; John W. Wolfsberger

This paper presents the development of a simulation tool to assist the modeler of prelaunch countdown sequences define the problem and then automatically write the corresponding code in the target simulation language GPSS/PC. Included in this paper are a description of the Automatic Network Programming System (ANPS) and a sample problem using ANPS.

Combining Software Engineering Principles With Discrete Event Simulation

Bernard J. Schroer; Fan T. Tseng; Shou X. Zhang

This paper presents an approach for using the concepts of software engineering to improve the simulation modeling environment. This approach is demonstrated by discussing the Automatic Manufacturing Programming System with a graphical user interface.

An automatic programming approach to simulating prelaunch activities

Shou-Xiang Zhang; Bernard J. Schroer; Fan T. Tseng

This paper presents the develop ment of an automatic program ming (AP) system for simulat ing prelaunch activities. The Automatic Network Program ming System (ANPS) is a tool to assist the modeler define a problem and then to automati cally generate the corresponding code in the target simulation language.
