This paper describes a recommender system for sport videos, transmitted over the Internet and/or broadcast, in the context of large-scale events, which has been tested for the Olympic Games. The recommender is based on audiovisual consumption and does not depend on the number of users, running only on the client side. This avoids the concurrence, computation and privacy problems of central server approaches in scenarios with a large number of users, such as the Olympic Games. The system has been designed to take advantage of the information available in the videos, which is used along with the implicit information of the user and the modeling of his/her audiovisual content consumption. The system is thus transparent to the user, who does not need to take any specific action. Another important characteristic is that the system can produce recommendations for both live and recorded events. Testing has showed advantages compared to previous systems, as will be shown in the results.

This paper presents an innovative consumption-modeling system applied to digital TV, able to infer the user interest regarding the TV contents. The user interest inferred is used to feed content recommender systems, and it has been tested in real scenarios involving real users. The modeling system uses as input the TV consumption data and performs an algorithm based on a Hidden Markov Model and Bayesian inference techniques to infer the said user interest. Real data have been picked up in real time to feed our modeling, and the final results have been checked comparing with user’s tastes, which have been expressed through a set of questionnaires and the whole system has been tested in a TV broadcasting scenario with real users. Conclusions show that our system improves the reliability from classic user interest modeling systems (they are mainly based on explicit opinion based methods, which can be intrusive for general users and could show certain deceptive results, as it is described in this paper).

This paper describes a novel content-based image recommendation system based on new image low level descriptors derived from the well known MPEG-7 parameters. Furthermore, it also proposes the integration of this recommendation system into a content-aware network architecture to enhance and enrich the content delivery and improve users experience.

This article describes a novel system and its architecture to handle, process, deliver, personalize, and find digital media, based on continuous enrichment of the media objects through the intrinsic operation within a content oriented architecture. Our system and its architecture provide a solution that enhances the delivery, sharing, experience, and exchange by providing the methods to semantically describe contents with a multilingual-multimedia-multidomain ontology; annotate the content against this ontology; process the content and adapt it to the network and the network status, taking into account the user behavior and the user terminal device to consume the content; and enriching the content at any additional iteration or process, over a content-oriented architecture based on standardized interfaces. The article presents the architecture, modules, functionalities, and procedures, including the system application model to the future media Internet concepts for content-oriented networks.

In this paper we introduce a framework that provides remote access to a full equipped MHP laboratory. Its purpose is to allow any registered user to test remotely a MHP application from any device connected to the Internet, with a special interest in the new possibilities of the T-government. We also define and implement a set of test applications devoted to verifying the suitability of MHP applications to the DVB-MHP standard. These tests are focused on audiovisual and smartcards aspects of interactive applications developed to be running over a MHP platform.

This paper presents an audiovisual consumption model and its architecture (to be developed as embedded SW in a consumer electronics device), which uses implicit information of the user to feed a classic recommender system based on social and content techniques.

In this paper we introduced an environment that provides remote access to a full equipped MHP laboratory. Its purpose is to allow any registered user to test remotely a MHP application from any device connected to the Internet. The laboratory is made by means of a head-end which inserts the received application into an object carousel which is broadcasted together with the television streaming. The application could be executed over the MHP set-top-box that previously was selected by the user among all the receivers available in the laboratory.
