Exploring the impact of individualism and uncertainty avoidance in Web-based electronic learning: An empirical analysis in European higher education

Our research specifically focuses on the effects of the national cultural background of educators on the acceptance and usage of ICT, particularly the Web as an extensive and expanding information base that provides the ultimate in resource-rich learning. Most research has been used North Americans as subjects. For this reason, we interviewed European educators from diverse cultures; in particularly, we analysed the cultural differences and their moderating effects on acceptance-based relationships between European universities: European Nordic culture in contrast to European-Mediterranean culture. The empirical results provided strong support for the hypotheses. Cultural differences have a significant impact on attitudes and behaviours towards using Web-based applications. The Nordic culture is driven more by instrumental factors and intrinsic enjoyment-based factors. On the other hand, the PSG-Mediterranean culture (Portugal, Spain and Greece) seems to regard the Web more as a means to a social end.

The Role of Absorptive Capability on Born-Global Performance

We analyze the superior performance of born-global firms through the dynamic capabilities approach. The performance of these firms is shaped by a capability to garner valuable knowledge, with a view to its assimilation, its combination with existing knowledge and its exploitation. Absorptive capability is the key to the success of born-global firms. The impact of market orientation culture on this dynamic capability is also analyzed. Our research provides empirical evidence that companies are better equipped to promote the launch of new products and services, and new management processes and improvements when they integrate this organizational process into their routines.

Complexity in the Acceptance of Sustainable Search Engines on the Internet: An Analysis of Unobserved Heterogeneity with FIMIX-PLS

This paper analyses the complexity of user behaviour when facing the challenge of using sustainable applications, such as Internet search engines. This paper analyses an acceptance model using extended TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) with Trust as an added external variable. It was suggested that Trust indirectly influences the final Intention to Use with the perceptions of Utility and Ease of Use. To test the proposed model, a survey was carried out with users from different geographical areas of Spain ( ). The second aim of this study was to understand the complexity of marketing segmentation by separating the application users into different user groups. Users were grouped by their preference of favorite Internet search engine. Unobserved heterogeneity was studied using FIMIX-PLS, and three different user behaviours with search engines were identified. These corresponded to the number of inhabitants who live in the user area. In this way, the impact that the environment has on user choice, acceptance, and use of this type of sustainable applications was shown. The results were checked using PLS-SEM and showed that the model for the adoption of sustainable search engines is explanatory and predictive because confidence and acceptance for this TAM were validated. The conclusions are interesting for developers of environmentally sustainable and responsible applications which want to coincide with current trends to ensure that users prefer them.

espanolEl uso de las aplicaciones moviles enfocadas al turismo (m-tourism) ha experimentado importantes cambios en la primera decada del siglo XXI. Esta investigacion desarrolla un estudio exploratorio de aplicaciones moviles de turismo para definir como los turistas las utilizan para obtener informacion de sus viajes tanto antes, como durante y despues de su realizacion. Los resultados de la investigacion ponen de manifiesto que las aplicaciones moviles de turismo deben aportar valor a los usuarios por lo que deben de estar centradas en el consumidor y en la personalizacion. Para ello es necesario que exista un enfoque de marketing en la concepcion y desarrollo de las aplicaciones de m-tourism. Las limitaciones de este estudio exploratorio son las relativas al numero de estudios analizados y el periodo temporal en que se analizan. EnglishThe use of mobile applications for tourism (m-tourism) has undergone important changes in the first decade of the 21st century. An exploratory study of mobile tourism applications was conducted in order to define how tourists use this kind of mobile applications to obtain information about their trips, before, during and after travelling. The results of the research show that mobile tourism applications must provide value to users and be focused on the consumer behaviour and personalization. Thus, a marketing approach is necessary in the conception and development of m-tourism applications. Por tal motivo, se pretende situar la evolucion de dicha auditoria perteneciente a las empresas del sector hotelero espanol en un marco comparativo al sector empresarial espanol en general, definiendo la evolucion de la implementacion de la auditoria informatica en estas, y encuadrandola en porcentajes de realizacion como en profesionales que la ejecutan, y su vinculacion con la importancia que estas empresas le dan a Internet y con el uso del comercio electronico. Con el fin de promover la concienciacion en la prevencion de posibles problemas informaticos en las empresas a traves de la ejecucion de estas auditorias informaticas. 62 empresas encuestadas que nos han permitido observar la mayor concienciacion de las empresas del sector hotelero espanol, a lo largo del tiempo, por las auditorias informaticas como medida preventiva a los posibles problemas en una disciplina tan importante para las empresas como es la tecnologia. EnglishThis study stems from another study about the evolution of the IT audit in the Spanish business sector, ‘IT audit in the Spanish business sector: longitudinal analysis (2001-2011)’ (Martinez-Lopez et al., 2015). Therefore, it is intended to place the development of this audit belonging to companies of Spanish hotel sector in a comparative frame to the Spanish business sector in general, defining the evolution of the implementation of IT audit in these ones, and framing it in percentages of implementation and professionals who make them, and its linkages to the importance that these companies give Internet and the use of electronic commerce. In order to promote awareness on the prevention of possible IT problems in companies through the implementation of these IT audits. This is the case of olive tourism, a tourist typology with only a few years of existence, slowly emerging as an alternative form of tourism to classical models. For the olive tourism there is a convergence of elements that if combined in the right way, it can lead to a form of tourism with some important tourist flows. Due to the brief life of olive tourism, there is not an extensive literature about olive oil, still this article is to present the current state of the scientific literature dealing with the olive tourism from a worldview. EnglishThe close relationship between tourism and technological innovation has generated a significant range of possibilities for tourism companies and tourist destinations in its efforts to provide a richer experience to tourists. In this sense, augmented reality has become one of the most important technological advances in recent years. Augmented reality is an effective and relevant communication tool through which it is possible to publicize tourism resources; hence its use in this sector and particularly its application to cultural tourism has become an added value to raise awareness of the historical and cultural heritage of a destination. Given these considerations, in this paper we analyse the possibilities arising from the use of this technology in tourism, focusing on its application to cultural tourism. We will complete this paper with a case study in which the use of augmented reality system in several Andalusian tourist destinations will be analysed.espanolTanto en los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) como en los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (ODM), el turismo es integrado como un sector prioritario a partir del cual alcanzar las metas marcadas a nivel mundial. La Agenda 2015 y la Agenda 2030 han supuesto, y suponen un reto para la Cooperacion Internacional al Desarrollo (CID), a la hora de decidir como intervenir en las areas desfavorecidas, utilizando las opciones mas beneficiosas para estas, y el menor coste para las instituciones involucradas. La actividad turistica se presenta como una opcion reciente en el campo de la CID con alta probabilidad de exito por sus efectos positivos a corto-medio-largo plazo en las condiciones de vida de las comunidades beneficiadas. En este trabajo se hace un analisis de la trayectoria de la CID y la inclusion del turismo en proyectos e iniciativas internacionales. Los resultados de este trabajo no solo dan visibilidad al papel del turismo en el area de la CID, sino tambien enfatizan su importancia para futuras iniciativas de CID, de cara a la consecucion de los ODS y la Agenda 2030. EnglishTourism is conceived a key sector in the framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG´s) and Millennium Development Goals (MDG´s). Both the Agenda 2015 and the Agenda 2030 are still a challenge for institutions that take part in International Development Cooperation (IDC). It is important when choosing the most benefitable options to disadvantaged areas, with the lowest cost to the institutions involved. Tourism seems to be a recent option in the field of IDC with high probability of success given its positive short-medium-long term effects on life conditions of benefited communities. This work analyzes background of IDC and tourism approaches in international projects and initiatives. Findings show the role of tourism in the field of IDC and remark the importance this activity in the development of future CID initiatives to achieve SDG´s in the framework of The Agenda 2030.espanolLa reapropiacion del patrimonio territorial implica la legitimacion social y el otorgamiento de un valor simbolico lo cual implica una resignificacion del mismo por parte de la sociedad, produciendo como resultado un nuevo proyecto territorial. En algunos casos, como en el de estudio, se vincula la incorporacion del mismo al sistema productivo como recurso turistico-recreativo. Por esto es necesario procesos de integracion basados en tres aspectos basicos: la integracion fisica, funcional y social de la propuesta. El objetivo del trabajo es analizar el patrimonio natural y cultural del area denominada Dos Huecos (Parque Antonio y Juana Cinque de Tandil. Buenos Aires) y su potencial reutilizacion para fines recreativos. La metodologia aplicada es de tipo exploratoria-descriptiva, apoyada en el analisis de las caracteristicas ambientales que conforman la estructura y el funcionamiento del territorio, mediante matrices de capacidad de acogida. Como resultado puede decirse que en terminos potenciales es viable la reutilizacion del Parque Antonio y Juana Cinque, como mecanismo de reapropiacion del patrimonio local, bajo ciertas condiciones e integrando el area al contexto espacial y temporal que le otorga significado. EnglishThe reappropriation of territorial heritage involves social legitimacy and providing a symbolic value which implies a redefinition of it by society, producing as a result a new territorial project. In some cases, as in the study, these processes involve the incorporation of it into the production system as a tourist-recreational resource. For this you need integration processes based on three basic aspects: physical, functional and social integration of the proposal. The aim of this work is to analyze the natural and cultural heritage of the area called Two Hollows (Antonio and Juana Cinque Tandil Park. Buenos Aires) and its potential reuse for recreational purposes. The methodology is exploratory and descriptive, based on the analysis of the environmental characteristics that make up the structure and functioning of the territory by matrices of carrying capacity type. As a result it can be said that in terms is viable potential reuse of Antonio and Juana Cinque Park as a mechanism of reappropriation of local heritage, under certain conditions and integrating the area to the spatial and temporal context that gives it meaning.espanolEn los ultimos anos las islas han ido desarrollando un cambio significativo en su modelo economico, mejorando y segmentando su oferta turistica. De esta forma, ademas del clasico turismo de sol y playa, se ha incentivado la oferta cultural, gastronomica o ecologica. El destino objeto de nuestro estudio, Republica Dominicana, se consolida como uno de los principales destinos de esta tipologia turistica en la region del Caribe. En este articulo presentamos los resultados de una investigacion, basada en entrevistas y observacion de campo, con la finalidad de analizar la situacion actual del turismo de sol y playa en Republica Dominicana, para lo cual se ha contado con la colaboracion de diferentes actores implicados en el desarrollo del turismo en el pais. Los principales resultados de esta investigacion se muestran a traves de una matriz DAFO (debilidades, amenazas, fortalezas y oportunidades). EnglishIn recent years the islands have developed a significant change in its economic model, improving and segmenting its tourism offer. Thus, besides the classic sun and beach tourism, the cultural, gastronomic and ecological offer has been encouraged. The target destination of our study, Dominican Republic, has become one of the major tourist destinations of this type in the Caribbean region. In this paper, we present the results of an investigation, based on interviews and field observation, in order to analyze the current situation of tourism of sun and beach in Dominican Republic, for which it has enjoyed the cooperation of different actors involved in tourism development in the country. EnglishThe main objective of this research is to awaken interest in the sectors with the capacity to make decisions in the formulation of sustainable development plans in areas of high population concentration, with looks to contemplate the possibilities offered by the implementation of certain projects. They are part of the urban tourism. Considering the great potential offered by some cities to promote recreational and entertainment with high added value activities for visitors, it is mandatory to think in depth in domestic tourism , which has continued to see their economic potential or the state or the private sector, in a country in that sector to its main economic asset. In this way, they can create diverse competitive advantages to adapt itself to the market.Este articulo estudia las variables explicativas de la experiencia en el consumo de paella por los turistas, en restaurantes especializados (arrocerias) de Valencia. Para ello, se han recogido 319 opiniones, en donde la calidad de la paella ha sido la variable mas citada. Y aunque el 75% de los turistas se ha mostrado satisfecho con la experiencia en el consumo de paella, mediante una regresion logistica binaria, se han determinado cuatro variables determinantes en su satisfaccion o no: la mencionada calidad de la paella, junto a la atencion al cliente, el precio y el sabor. EnglishIn recent years there is a growth of the so-called alternative tourism and within this adventure tourism, associated with an increase in sporting activities by a large segment of the population, which includes extreme practices with a high level of risk. Among these are bouldering and coasteering as growing segments in some European countries. The objective of the work is to analyze whether certain characteristics in the town of Tandil (Argentina) could allow to expand the existing offer including these modalities. Considering the physical conditions, the development of the current offer and training actions in adventure tourism is possible to potentially include the modalities mentioned in the tourist development of the destination.espanolEn este articulo planteamos que el desarrollo turistico no deberia concebirse al margen de la cultura, ya que esta es el principal mecanismo para el desarrollo social y economico de los pueblos. Las arraigadas leyendas locales constituiran el hilo conductor de este itinerario que transitara por los hitos patrimoniales mas significativos de Moron de la Frontera. EnglishIn this paper, we propose that tourism development should not be seen outside the culture, as this is the main mechanism for social and economic development of peoples. According to the above, in this study a heritage inventory of Moron de la Frontera is developed, taking into account the historical, artistic and ethnological values , and serving their tangible and intangible dimensions. This inventory is the instrument for designing a tourist route that tries to articulate the various assets of the locality. Entrenched local legends constitute the theme of this itinerary that will transit the most significant heritage landmarks of Moron de la Frontera.espanolEn los ultimos anos, la dependencia de las tecnologias de la informacion en la comercializacion de destinos turisticos ha ido en aumento. La posibilidad de comercializar los destinos turisticos requiere de una infraestructura tecnologica poderosa y capaz de dar respuesta a las necesidades de cientos de miles de usuarios concurrentes. Asi mismo, las necesidades de almacenamiento, procesamiento y comunicaciones se han disparado en base a estas necesidades. Una tecnologia impulsora de estos nuevos servicios ha sido el cloud computing. La adopcion y uso del cloud esta planteando importantes cambios organizacionales en el sector turistico y abre nuevas posibilidades a nuevos establecimientos y a establecimientos independientes que pueden competir mejor con una infraestructura TIC a costes reducidos. Este articulo presenta un estudio del caso, que ha sido planteado en cinco establecimientos hoteleros independientes de la ciudad de Sevilla. La eleccion se ha hecho en base al caracter independiente de los establecimientos entrevistados y la eleccion de la ciudad por su infraestructura en fibra optica, que esta plenamente desplegada desde hace anos. Esta investigacion ha permitido conocer cuales pueden ser las variables de influencia en el proceso de adopcion y uso de la nube en el sector turistico. A su vez, este articulo detalla la importancia y la dependencia que estas aplicaciones, bajo modalidad SaaS (Software as a Service), tienen para los establecimientos y como estos pueden aumentar o disminuir sus costes en infraestructura TIC en funcion de la estacionalidad y ocupacion. Por ultimo, se expone la importancia que otorgan estos establecimientos a la confianza y a la seguridad de los datos, asi como que relevancia tienen para las organizaciones turisticas entrevistadas. En resumen, presentamos un articulo de naturaleza exploratoria que servira para determinar las principales variables de influencia en futuros estudios sobre la adopcion y uso de la nube en el sector turistico. EnglishIn recent years, the dependency of information technology in marketing of tourist destinations has been on the rise. The possibility of marketing the tourist destinations requires a technological infrastructure powerful and able to give response to the needs of hundreds of thousands of concurrent users. Likewise, the needs of storage, processing and communications have exploded on the basis of these needs. A technology driving these new services has been cloud computing. The adoption and use of cloud is considering significant organizational changes in the tourism sector and opens new possibilities to new establishments and independent establishments that can compete better with an ICT infrastructure to reduced costs. This article presents a case study, which has been raised in five hotels that are independent of the city of Seville. The choice has been made on the basis of the independent character of the establishments interviewed and the choice of the city for its infrastructure in optical fibre, which is fully deployed for years. This investigation has allowed to know what may be the variables of influence on the process of adoption and use of the cloud in the tourism sector. In turn, this article details the importance and the dependence on these applications, under mode SaaS (Software as a Service), have for the establishments and how these can increase or decrease its costs in ICT infrastructure in function of seasonality and occupancy. Finally, it exposes the importance they attached to these establishments to trust and data security, as well as the relevance for the tourism organizations interviewed. In summary, we present an article, of exploratory nature, which will determine the main variables of influence on future studies on the adoption and use of the cloud in the tourism sector.espanolLas tecnologias de la Web 2.0 en ocasiones se muestran borrosas, cuando se ha de demostrar como un mayor o menor uso de estas, influyen de manera directa sobre la mejora de la reputacion on-line en los hoteles. EnglishThe purpose of this study is to develop the contractual configuration timeshare property for tourist use in its international projection. Both citizens and operators around the world are acquirers or transferors of using timeshare property. It should be noted the great transformation, conducted by ICTs in the tourism sector; they have removed geographical barriers and have increased the potential customer base that until now could not hire certain services of specialized companies due to the distance factor therefore tourist procurements via Internet has grown exponentially. Another development is that despite the obvious regulatory fragmentation in this field, it must seek the protection of tourists as consumers. Strengthen legal certainty along with the approximation of laws in the different Member States, will allow ensure that tourists find the desired-earners and in no case under existing handicaps reach foreign tourists.espanolEn destinos turisticos jovenes crear servicios y productos puede llegar a resulta relativamente sencillo por la predisposicion y asimilacion de experiencias de otros destinos. En cambio, en los destinos maduros hay que buscar nuevas propuestas para poder trazar nuevas metas y ofrecer versiones innovadoras en la gestion de productos y servicios, dado que normalmente tienen servicios muy consolidados por los que atraen grandes flujos turisticos. Ambos (destinos jovenes y maduros) tratan, basicamente, de satisfacer la exigente y variada demanda turistica, con un reto anadido: diversificar los productos y aumentar el gasto medio del turista asi como disminuir la estacionalidad (IDOM, 2011). En base a estas realidades surge el interes de este estudio por conocer en profundidad un Recurso Patrimonial tratado como Recurso Turistico en dos destinos maduros del Mediterraneo espanol. Las Catedral de Palma de Mallorca y de la Catedral de Barcelona, que aun en la distancia, tienen una serie de elementos y patrones en comun. Dos ciudades, Palma de Mallorca y Barcelona que atraen por una oferta de servicios turisticos esencialmente parecidos y a la vez dispares, y con unas Catedrales consideradas de rango 2 en los flujos turisticos segun la clasificacion establecida por CICATUR-OEA. EnglishIn young tourist destinations create services and products can get to it relatively simple thanks to the predisposition and assimilation from other destinations. However, in consolidate destinations it�s necessary to look for new proposals to set new goals and deliver innovative versions management products and services, because they usually have well established services which attract large number of tourists. Both (young and consolidate destinations), trying to satisfy the demanding and increasing more varied tourist demand, an added new challenges: The diversification of products, the increase of the average expense of the tourist and the reduction of the seasonal nature (IDOM, 2011). Based on these realities there arises the interest of this study to know in depth an Heritage Resource treated as a Tourist Resources, belonging to two consolidate destinations of Mediterranean places. The Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona, still in the distance, there has a series of elements and patterns together. Two cities, Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona that attract by offering essentially similar and at the same time diverse tourists services. Whrere the Cathedrals are not considered Rank 2 in tourist flows, according to the classification established by CICATUR�]OEA.

Internet and the new technologies are changing the form that the consumers approach the sector services, and more concretely to the sector of the hotels. The new technologies and applications of the Web 2.0, it would facilitate to these establishments to contact easier his consumers. For them one proposes this study as point of item of an investigation that tries to see that they are doing at present these hotels, and to show him as the above mentioned tools them his aims of communication might help to reach better promotion, commercialization and sale of products and hotel services.
