This integrative literature review aimed to analyze the findings of studies that focused on the therapeutic properties of propolis for treatment of skin lesions. Studies were obtained through literature searches using LILACS, MEDLINE, and BDENF databases. The search was limited to publications in Portuguese, English, or Spanish languages from 1980 to 2007. Initially, 1127 publications were identified. However, only 38 publications met the study inclusion criteria. Seven publications (18.42%) were clinical studies and remainder of the 31 publications (81.58%) used “in vitro” or with animal experiments. These publications were focused on the therapeutic properties of propolis in wound healing and on the antimicrobial properties of propolis. Findings suggested the effectiveness of propolis for treating skin lesions, acting as a natural healing and antimicrobial agent whose therapeutic properties depends on the form and place of extraction and concentration of the product.ABSTRACT This integrative literature review aimed to analyze the findings of studies that focused on the therapeutic properties of propolis fortreatment of skin lesions. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, aimed at identifying the knowledge of nurses in the Family Health Teams (FHT) from theThird Health District of Uberaba, Minas Gerais, with regard to the necessary care given to people that suffer from venous ulcers and describingtheir perceptions. After receiving approval by the Ethics Committee, the data were collected from sixteen nurses through semi-structuredinterviews. The Bardin analysis technique was used. Three categories were set up for data analysis – sufficient knowledge, insufficient knowledge, and lack of knowledge – all concerning knowledge about venous ulcers, how to care for them, guidance, and comprehensive approaches to thepatient. The nurses’ specific knowledge, their training, best working conditions, the use of integral health care, and the adoption of a protocolare essential to improved care for patients with venous ulcers, thus reducing the healing time and recurrence rates.(AU) Se trata de un estudio descriptivo con enfoque cualitativo cuyo objetivo fue identificar el conocimiento de enfermeras de los Equipos de Salud de la Familia(ESF) del distrito sanitario III de Uberaba-MG acerca de los cuidados necesarios a personas con ulceras venosas y describir sus percepciones. More detailed involvement is demanded from mental health professionals with their patients, given that in cases of patients with serious illnesses, the treatment can be prolonged for many years. Thus, the present study’s aim was to characterize the sociodemographic profile of mental health professionals, to verify the impact of their work, and to compare this impact on mental health professionals as regards gender. This study was carried out with 32 mental health professionals from a psychiatric institution. A sociodemographic questionnaire and the IMPACT-BR scale were applied to collect the relevant data. An overall average score of 1.63 ± 0.56 was registered. The subscale in which the highest level of impact was reported is related to the emotional repercussions of work, with an average of 1.97 ±1.13. The obtained data demonstrated that the highest level of impact was related to the emotional repercussions of work. The findings of the remaining subscales demonstrated a low impact on mental health professionals from a psychiatric institution.

The ICU is a highly complex sector, and among the wide range of interventions performed in the intensive care patient, we highlight the use of the central venous catheter (CVC). Maintaining the CVC requires knowledge and ability to ensure safe and long-lasting vascular access. However, during the permanence time of the device, some complications related to the catheter material, caliber, puncture site, dressing used, type of medication administered and length of stay may occur. Knowing the possible complications that occur with the catheter during its stay and the outcome of these complications favors the health professional in the elaboration of prevention strategies. Therefore, this research aims to elucidate the occurrence of non-elective removal, the main complications and outcomes related to the use of CVC in clients hospitalized in the ICU. This is a descriptive, observational, prospective study with a quantitative approach. The study was carried out in a teaching hospital in Uberaba-MG, from March to August 2016. The population of the study consisted of CVCs inserted in clients hospitalized in the ICUs. As a result, 75 (38.3%) catheters presented complications, being the outcome of 55 (73.3%) non-elective removal when the complication was discovered. The other 121 (61.7%) catheters had the outcome of removal on discharge from the client to the ward 59 (48.7%), death of the client 25 (20.6%), discharge from the client to the ward with the device (Risk benefit) 27 (22.3%) and removal at the physician’s discretion 10 (8.2%). The permanence time of the device was 7.65. The greater the number of complications the catheter presented, the greater the chances of catheter loss (63.4). This study emphasizes the importance of conducting other studies that may contribute to the reduction of complications resulting from the use of CVC, and emphasize that complications demand higher expenses for the health system and increase the risk of infection of clients hospitalized in the ICU.
