Synthesis and electrical properties of metallotriazolehemiporphyrazines

Fernando Fernández-Lázaro; Salomé Rodríguez-Morgade; Tomás Torres

Abstract Two series of first-row transition metal complexes based on triazolehemiporphyrazines were prepared by reaction of the free ligands 3a and 4a with the corresponding metal(II) salt. Compound 4a was prepared either by condensation of the pyridine derivative 5 with 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole or by reaction of the three-unit triazole 6 with 2,6-diaminopyridine. Compounds 3 and 4 were characterized by elemental analyses, IR and FAB-MS. Metellotriazolehemiporphyrazines 3 show electrical conductivities in the range 5 × 10 −12 –2 × 10 −10 S/cm. Oxidation of metal complexes 3 with iodine give doped compounds which show increased conductivity in comparison with the precursors. Doped (iodine) copper triazolehemiporphyrazine 3f shows semiconducting properties (1.0 × 10 −6 S/cm).

Third‐order nonlinear optical susceptibilities of the Langmuir–Blodgett films of octa‐substituted metallophthalocyanines

The third‐order susceptibilities χ(3)(−3ω:ω,ω,ω) of Langmuir–Blodgett films of a series of octasubstituted metallophthalocyanines have been measured by third‐harmonic generation experiments at 1.064 and 1.904 μm. For the latter excitation wavelength a marked enhancement of the nonlinearity for the cobalt‐containing compound has been found, and χ(3) values are one order of magnitude larger than for the other systems. The effect has been associated to the role of two‐photon allowed metal (possibly d−d) transitions in the cobalt derivative.

Metallotriazolephthalocyanines as potential molecular subunits for the preparation of nonlinear optical active systems

Beatriz Cabezón; Fernando Fernández-Lázaro; M.V. Martinez-Diaz; Salomé Rodríguez-Morgade; Angela Sastre; Tomás Torres

Abstract A series of triazolephthalocyaninatonickel (II), -copper (II), and -cobalt (II) complexes have been prepared and characterized. Soluble compounds show favourable characteristics for the preparation of Langmuir-Blodgett films. Preliminary studies of their NLO properties in solution have been made.

Macroscopic third order nonlinear optical behavior of metal-containing phthalocyanines bearing alkyl-amido functional groups+

María A. Díaz-García; Fernando Fernández-Lázaro; G. de la Torre; Eva M. Maya; Purificación Vázquez; F. Agulló-López; Tomás Torres

Abstract The third order susceptibilities ξ(3) Langmuir Blodgett films of two series of octasubstituted metallophthalocyanines 1 and 2 have been measured by Third Harmonic Generation (THG) experiments at 1.064 and 1.904 μm. The results indicate that the hydrogen bonding has a very weak influence in their nonlinear response. Preliminary studies in solution of tetrasubstituted metallophthalocyanines have been also performed.

Synthesis and aggregation properties of novel soluble ‘crowned’ metallotriazolehemiporphyrazines

Fernando Fernández-Lázaro; Angela Sastre; Tomás Torres

Synthesis and preliminary studies on the aggregation and non-linear optical properties of novel, highly soluble, free and transition metal-complexed triazolehemiporphyrazines 1 containing two 15-crown-5 subunits are reported; aggregation of the ‘crowned’ metallotriazolehemiporphyrazines induced by alkali cations is observed for the first time in these kinds of compounds.

Synthesis and third-order NLO properties in LB films of triazolehemiporphyrazines

Fernando Fernández-Lázaro; M. Angeles Díaz-García; Angela Sastre; P. Delhaes; Christophe Mingotaud; F. Agulló-López; Tomás Torres

Abstract Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of free and cobalt(II)-metallated triazolehemiporphyrazines ( 2–4 ), including some new synthesized compounds ( 3–4 ), have been prepared and characterized. All investigated molecules adopt an edge-on arrangement in the film as previously found for the structurally related phthalocyanines (Pcs). The real and imaginary parts of the third-harmonic susceptibility χ (3) (3ω:ω,ω,ω) have been measured at 1.06 μm fundamental wavelength. Values are similar to those obtained for LB films of Pcs. No significant effects associated with cobalt metallation have been found at variance with previous results in solution at λ = 1.3 and λ = 1.9 μm.
