Objective: To understand how nurses in basic health care have dealt with the situations arising from the process of caring for the person affected by tuberculosis. Method: Qualitative research following the methodological assumptions of the Grounded Theory. Nineteen nurses participated in the study. It was used the in-depth interview. Data analysis was performed using open, axial and selective coding using the Atlas ti software. Results: It has been shown that in order to be effective in the treatment, the actions of the nurses and the ways of dealing with the circumstances of the care stem from their concern with the person affected by tuberculosis. In addition, it is also considered the situations that permeate the life of this person, so that it can achieve healing and the restoration of their health. Conclusion: Concerns and ways of dealing with people affected by tuberculosis should be reflected in the planning of care practices for these citizens. With this it is possible to draw confrontations and conduits for successful actions.

Objective: To investigate the difficulties experienced by mothers, that influence the failure of Exclusive Breast Feeding. Method: qualitative study, exploratory and descriptive. There were semi-structured interviews with 14 women. The data treatment occurred by means of the content analysis, in the form of thematic analysis. Results: Mammary complications; negative influences of familiar; job out of home and various household duties; insufficient information and weaknesses in communication among professionals of prenatal care; insertion of artificial teats (bottles) in the hospital. Conclusions: it was found that breastfeeding transcends biological concept, because it suffers social and cultural interference. Furthermore, woman as a social being is inserted in a context permeated by values which directly interfere in their attitudes.

Introduction: Pregnancy is a natural phenomenon whose evolution requires routine monitoring in order to promote well-being and comfort to the woman and her family. Objective: To analyze the scientific literature on empirical indicators of the pregnant woman needs. Method: This is an integrative review considering publications between years 2005 and 2014. Databases consulted were Cochrane, CINAHL, Lilacs, Pubmed, Scopus and Journal of Midwifery. It was used as inclusion criteria articles published in full that dealt indicators related to the need of women during pregnancy. In 36 articles selected 64 indicators were identified consistent to the physiological needs of pregnant women. Results: The results show imbalances especially eating habits, physical activity, depression and anxiety. It was found low supply of treatments and tests relating to prenatal program. Conclusion: The reviewed publications indicate the existence of gaps in the psychobiological level of the pregnant woman. This situation is worrying when it is assumed that pregnant women not getting their needs met, they are predisposed to injuries to their health and of the conceptus and of the household as a social cell.

OBJECTIVE To describe responses issued by pregnant women, and the improvement of the gravidic discomforts after the use of the acupressure technique. METHOD Qualitative and descriptive study conducted with 15 pregnant women between November 2013 and February 2014 in a Basic Health Unit in Natal, RN, Brazil. The data were collected through unstructured interviews and depositions that were then transcribed and treated according to Minayos operative proposal, carefully read, compared and organized into two groups. RESULTS The categories that resulted were: Positive effects of acupressure, and the recommended use of acupressure. According to pregnant women, the discomforts of pregnancy cramps, fatigue in the legs, lower back pain and headaches decreased with the use of acupressure. CONCLUSIONS Based on the results, acupressure should be introduced by the nurse in pre-natal care as a therapeutic resource for the pregnant womans well-being.

Objective: To summarize knowledge produced in scientific articles about obstetric history, maternal complications and types of pregnancy as risk factors related to preterm birth. Method: an integrative review conducted in February and March 2015, through databases: lilacs, CINAHL and Pubmed. For this it was used the Mesh descriptors: Infant, premature; Risk factors and Causality, having been found studies 50,528. After assessment of methodological rigor and level of evidence of the studies 32 articles were selected. Results: Among the risk factors associated to preterm birth highlighted the previous history of prematurity. Also emerged: hypertensive disease by eclampsia and eclampsia no, genitourinary infection and antiretroviral therapy in pregnancy. Conclusion: Maternal complications are subject to screening, treatment and prevention. In addition, obstetric history of risk can be identified in a timely manner to reduce morbidity and mortality both mother and neonatal.

Objective: The aim of this article is to investigate, from the scientific literature, feelings and perceptions presented by men facing the experience of having their women submitted to mastectomy. Methods: This is a literature integrative review collected in the databases LILACS, CINAHL, Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science and Science Direct, in November and December 2015. Results: The sample included 12 publications. In the selected articles, feelings and perceptions of the man before of women undergoing mastectomy were mostly linked to fear, anxiety, sadness, worry and anguish. Conclusion: Facing these findings is great relevance that not only women undergoing the procedure must be assisted during all stages of treatment. But also his companions need assistance as a way of these men take care of their women in full.

Objective: Report on lived experience of the person with intellectual disabilities and their families about sexuality in the context of health education. Method: An exploratory and descriptive study with approach anchored in the experience report. The study was conducted with users, parents and health professionals from an institution of care of people with a disability in the municipality of Santa Cruz-RN. The research was developed in the context of practical discipline of Primary Care and Family Health of undergraduate nursing degree from the Universidade federal do Rio Grande do Norte. It was used wheels of conversations and nursing consultations that allowed individual and collective reports. Results: Previous knowledge concerning sexuality were rescued, allowing users to identify and reflect on stereotypes involving male and female behavior. The wheels of conversations and dynamic with parents and health professionals allowed to note: weaknesses of professionals to deal with issues that permeate the lives of people with disability intelecutal; as well as feelings and conceptions encompassing parents to discuss this theme. Conclusion: Health education conducted favored to minimize the lack of knowledge and approach of health professionals to work with the theme of sexuality existent in the institution.

Introduction: Preeclampsia is a serious complication of pregnancy and childbirth that can contribute to the late onset of cardiovascular risk factors, among which the metabolic syndrome. Objective: identifying the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its individual components in women who had preeclampsia and normal risk of pregnancy, evaluated five years after delivery. Method: analytical and descriptive, cross-sectional study with data collection conducted from March to December 2011 in a maternity hospital school, Natal-RN-Brazil. The sample included 70 women who had previous preeclampsia and 75 with normal pregnancy, selected by simple random probability sampling method. Results: It appeared as a cardiovascular risk factor, with statistical significance for metabolic syndrome p = 0.042, but also the fasting glucose levels p = 0.030, HDL cholesterol p = 0.049, systolic and diastolic pressure p <0.001. Conclusion: Therefore, preeclampsia appears as a potential risk factor for metabolic syndrome. Hence as long-term cardiovascular risk factor.

Introduction: Manager in its various operational levels, including the hospital management, needs in your profile to present leadership because this feature is an essential part to work with your team . Objective: Identifying leadership strategies employed by managers in hospital units. Method: Integrative review it was conducted in the following databases - Scopus, PUBMED, LILACS and SCIELO. It was considered all published articles in the last ten years until October 2015. Results: It were selected and analyzed 12 articles. Strategies communication among staff; participatory management and professional qualification were outstanding results in this study. Communication presented predominance as the most used strategy, present in 58.33% of the analyzed articles. Conclusion: Despite the scale of the challenges confronting leadership in hospital units is possible to bet on strategies that promote the achievement of objectives of these institutions. Doi: 10.5902/217976929856 Aim: to identify the profile of the theses produced in the Graduate Program in Nursing of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte that focus on the area of womens health. Methods: descriptive and documentary study with a quantitative approach. A survey of theses from 2000-2012 was conducted between the months of August to October 2012, in which 22 theses were selected. The data were registered in a check list, compiled on Microsoft Excel and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: the results showed the predominance of qualitative and exploratory-descriptive studies and the Symbolic Interactionism was identified as the main methodological framework. Regarding the thematic areas, the obstetric nursing stood out, with issues related to prenatal care and the Basic Health Units were the primary place of study. Conclusion: the theses analyzed converge to publications from other graduate programs on this subject. However, the need to explore emerging issues in this area is recognized.
