Secure Transmission of Medical Images by SSH Tunneling

Felipe Rodrigues Martinêz Basile; Flávio Cezar Amate

Given the technological advances related to Telemedicine and eHealth together with the increase of cyber attacks in the internet. We can consider that studies are necessary to improve a secure transmission of medical images. A desktop application was developed for the transmission of medical images considering a secure environment using SSH protocol and cryptographic keys. In accordance to statistical analysis using test t there isn’t significant difference (p>0.05) when we compare the total time of transmission using SSH Tunneling with the total time of transmission using HTTP request, in the same way there isn’t significant difference (p>0.05) when we compare the average transmission rates using SSH Tunneling with the average transmission rates using HTTP request. Finally, we can affirm that a secure transmission of medical images using SSH tunneling is highly recommended because it can provide a secure way with a level of encryption on point to point transmission between client and server, observing national and international rules for telemedicine.

Introduction: Communication is a fundamental element for the development of human beings, promoting their coexistence in society. However, changes in muscle tone, associated with cerebral palsy (CP), among other conditions, cause phono-articulatory dysfunctions hindering speech capabilities. Although there are resources for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), most of them do not completely satisfy the needs of individuals with motor impairment. Therefore, this study proposes a tool based on mobile technology for AAC, which can be adapted to the characteristics of the motor limitations of CP users. Methods: Mobile system development was conducted employing user-centered design and development methods. Functions were developed allowing the communication of phrases through pictographic resources and a mechanism of speech synthesis, that can be customized according to specific communication needs. To validate this system, 20 CP volunteers with speech difficulties and motor impairment were recruited from two institutions in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. They operated the system following a pre-defined test protocol, and they answered a system usability scale (SUS) questionnaire, to rate the ease of learning, memorization, efficiency, occurrence of runtime errors, and the level of user satisfaction. Results: The results showed a score of 85.85 ± 2.28 above the average SUS scale, for each one of the quality components assessed by the volunteers. Conclusion: The developed software is user-friendly, representing a new option for AAC, and is customized according to the communication needs of people with speech disorder and motor impairment.

Software Development for Telehealth at Blood Donation Centers

Drielle Caroline de Oliveira; Paulo Henrique Aparecido Rodrigues; Rafael Palma Soares; Flávio Cezar Amate

Firstly, taking into account the increasing number of people with internet access in Brazil, that according to IBOPE, it reached 105 million in the second quarter of 2013. On the other hand, considering the importance of increasing awareness and peoples participation in blood donation process, this work aims at developing software to assist in raising blood donors and facilitate the organization of donations and donors in blood banks. A web system was developed whose function is to provide a single regional database of blood donors, providing information about blood donation, improving the start of the donation process, with grounding in national and international standards. Another important aspect is the clarification of the safety and protection of the recipient and the donor, so that the system addresses the principles of information security. The development was done with the .Net platform using C # programming language and the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), coupled with the use of ORM Entity Framework for data persistence. According to the obtained results, it can be concluded that the system assisted in the management of data relating to blood donors in addition to promoting distance learning through the provision of information concerning the standards of knowledge and aspects of telehealth and citizenship.

The development of a method training based on vibratory stimuli was used in Russia since the 80’s. In this training a change occurs in Tonic Vibration Reflex (TVR) determining a reflex muscle contraction, originated from a local stimulus in muscle and tendon by vibration. The application of vibratory stimulus produces a state of greater neuromuscular efficiency, which increases the income of voluntary movements. The aim of this study was develop a prototype of a vibratory treadmill to assist on the walking training with the benefits of vibration. The device was adapted in Athletic Advanced Treadmill. The evaluation of the prototype was performed through comparison of reference values of ISO standards with acquired values by measuring instruments, being: strength g, frequency, amplitude, structural stability and resistance. In the statistical analysis of equipment tests was used Anova one-way and was observed a low variation of strength g and maximum amplitude was of 3mm being acceptable based on the limits of research conducted. Finally, the walking can be practiced safely and there is not displacement of equipment during implementation of the vibration.

Advisory Software for Improving the Prevention of Dentistry Medical Conditions Arising from Chronic Diseases

Paulo Ramirez; Luiz Teruo Kawamoto; Flávio Cezar Amate

Prevention is the best way to seek quality of life and it means actions-oriented interventions to prevent the emergence of specific diseases, reducing their incidence and prevalence in the population. When the patient is properly diagnosed, the treatment, in many cases, will need, in addition to the dental professional, another specialist for a multidisciplinary work. Working together will provide to the patience an improvement in the alterations that the disease causes, including in the mouth. There are several ways of information available to the patients, however, not actively, seeking the patient, but passively and unordered. The purpose of this study is the development and validation of an advisory software for dental patients, guiding them on chronic diseases and their impact on oral health. Results showed that there was improvement in knowledge among patients.
