Abstract 6 has been synthesized starting from ethyl ( S )-2-benzyloxycarbonylamino-4-(chlorosulfonyl)butanoate and S -acetamidomethyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine ethyl ester. Compound 6 is a backbone modified analogue of glutathione disulfide containing the SO 2 NH transition state mimic in place of the native γ-glutamyl-cystine CONH bond.

Cyclization under mild conditions of cysteine containing peptides

Abstract Cyclization of di- and tripeptides containing cysteine as N-terminal residue is reported. The preferred cyclization patterns and the nature of the products (diketopiperazine, aza-cyclol, peptide thiolactone) are discussed.

Abstract Cyclization of different models of linear precursors of 10-membered cyclotripeptides is described. Macrocyclic compounds, aza-cyclols, n-acyl-di-ketopiperazines and acylamidines were isolated and their formation related to the flexibility of the ring.

Asymmetric hydrogenation of β - methylcinnamates of phenylalkylmethanols. Catalyst-phenyl groups interactions in the preferred adsorption conformation

Abstract The β-methylcinnamates of four S -alkylphenylmethanols have been hydrogenated on Pt catalyst. The observed asymmetric inductions suggest that simultaneous bonded interactions of both the phenyl groups with the catalyst in the transition states do not occur.
