The inclusive jet cross section is measured in pp collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the LHC using the CMS experiment. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 34 pb−1. The measurement is made for jet transverse momenta in the range 18–1100 GeV and for absolute values of rapidity less than 3. The measured cross section extends to the highest values of jet pT ever observed and, within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties, is generally in agreement with next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions. A new near detector for the K2K long baseline neutrino experiment, the SciBar, was constructed and started data taking to study neutrino interactions. In K2K, neutrino oscillation is studied by comparing the number of neutrino interactions and energy spectrum between near and far detectors. In order to study neutrino oscillations more precisely, it is necessary to improve the measurement of neutrino spectrum and interactions below 1 GeV, where the latest K2K results suggest maximum oscillation. For that purpose, SciBar is designed to be fully active with fine segmentation. We present the design and basic performance. All detector components have been working as expected. Also presented are the measurements of charged current interactions which are used in the latest K2K oscillation analysis

The SciBooNE Collaboration reports a measurement of neutral current coherent {pi}{sup 0} production on carbon by a muon neutrino beam with average energy 0.8 GeV. The separation of coherent from inclusive {pi}{sup 0} production has been improved by detecting recoil protons from resonant {pi}{sup 0} production. We measure the ratio of the neutral current coherent {pi}{sup 0} production to total charged current cross sections to be (1.16{+-}0.24)x10{sup -2}. The ratio of charged current coherent {pi}{sup +} to neutral current coherent {pi}{sup 0} production is calculated to be 0.14{sub -0.28}{sup +0.30}, using our published charged current coherent pion measurement.

This paper describes the architecture and implementation of the HERA-B framework for online calibration and alignment. At HERA-B the performance of all trigger levels, including the online reconstruction, strongly depends on using the appropriate calibration and alignment constants, which might change during data taking. A system to monitor, recompute and distribute those constants to online processes has been integrated in the data acquisition and trigger systems.

Article history: Received 19 March 2015 Received in revised form 6 September 2015 Accepted 23 September 2015 Available online 28 September 2015 Editor: M. DoserThe first study of W boson production in pPb collisions is presented, for bosons decaying to a muon or electron, and a neutrino. The measurements are based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34.6 nb−1 at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of sNN = 5.02 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment. The W boson differential cross sections, lepton charge asymmetry, and forward-backward asymmetries are measured for leptons of transverse momentum exceeding 25 GeV/c, and as a function of the lepton pseudorapidity in the |ηlab| < 2.4 range. Deviations from the expectations based on currently available parton distribution functions are observed, showing the need for including W boson data in nuclear parton distribution global fits.
