Memoria y modelo: una lectura de la Historia Roderici

This article examines the composition of the Historia Roderici and seeks to address the contexts of its production and the resulting implications. Given the general historical accuracy of the text, underscored and presented here in significant detail, this study proposes dating the text with certain proximity to the events it narrates. Furthermore, its relationship with the cultural milieu of Alfonso I of Aragon (r. 1104–34) and some of the initiatives undertaken in his time suggests placing the text in this context, which reveals a profound connection with the memory of Rodrigo Díaz. From these premises, the text is interpreted according to its chivalric and ideological content, as well as to the selection, presentation and manipulation of events. One of the objectives of the Historia Roderici would have been for the kingdom of Aragon to appropriate the symbolic potential of Rodrigo’s image. In sum, this article attempts to read the Historia Roderici beyond its documentary value, which has been the focus of almost all critical studies of the text.

Sobre la tradición textual de la segunda parte de la General estoria

Abstract La segunda parte de la General estoria, escrita en la corte de Alfonso X (entre c. 1270—1284) se ha conservado en varios manuscritos, aunque ninguno de ellos procede del escritorio alfonsí. Este artículo ofrece un nuevo análisis de la transmisión textual de esta parte, a la luz de un manuscrito no utilizado hasta ahora, que cubre desde la historia de Hércules hasta el final de la segunda parte. Este manuscrito ofrece claves para evaluar la variación entre los manuscritos, y permite defender que los manuscritos de esta parte de la General estoria representan al menos dos redacciones diferentes del texto. La redacción contenida en este nuevo manuscrito sería el resultado de una revisión de la obra llevada a cabo por los autores de la General estoria. Finalmente, se estudia el texto de las Sumas de historia troyana atribuidas a Leomarte y la Historia troyana en prosa, ya que ambas incluyen secciones de la segunda parte de la General estoria.
