This paper aims to evaluate a capacitance sensor for monitoring soil water content. Capacitance sensors were tested to evaluate the effect of temperature and response time, and to obtain the calibration equation and their sensitivity. Sensors were placed in different environments (soil, water and air) and temperatures (25 oC, 20 oC, 15 oC, 10 oC, 5 oC and 0 oC). The calibration was performed with one of the capacitance sensors installed in a PVC column containing 0.015066 m3 of undisturbed soil and hanged on one side of a scale with a load cell connected to a data acquisition board on the other side. Results showed reductions in the frequency response of the capacitance sensor with increasing temperature. The response time was low (less than one second) as it was immersed into water, as well as to an abrupt change in soil moisture in the soil column. It was verified that the sensitivity of the sensor increases as the soil moisture decreases. Therefore, the capacitance sensor can be used to determine the soil moisture.

A agricultura familiar e um segmento importante do agronegocio brasileiro e tem grande participacao na producao de alimentos essenciais para a seguranca alimentar do Brasil, por isso, e preciso o fornecimento de energia para esses agricultores. Uma alternativa e a energia eolica, no entanto um desafio para usar o vento em pequenas propriedades no Estado do Ceara e a condicao operacional do vento que e de baixa velocidade (ventos < 6 m s-1). O objetivo deste trabalho foi propor um sistema eolico para pequenas propriedades do Estado do Ceara com inovacoes tecnologicas. Todos os sistemas foram concebidos e dimensionados em uma turbina inovadora e apropriada para as pequenas propriedades. A estimativa de custo indica um baixo valor de aquisicao e atraves de redes inteligentes e da geracao distribuida pode-se gerar renda.

Due to the need to monitor soil water tension continuously, the instantaneous profile method is considered laborious, requiring a lot of time, and especially manpower, to set up and maintain. The aim of this work was to evaluate the possibility of using capacitive sensors in place of tensiometers with the instantaneous profile method in an area of the Lower Acarau Irrigated Perimeter. The experiment was carried out in a Eutrophic Red-Yellow Argisol. The sensors were installed 15, 30, 45 and 60 cm from the surface, and powered by photovoltaic panels, using a power manager to charge the battery and to supply power at night. Records from the capacitive sensors were collected every five minutes and stored on a data acquisition board. With the simultaneous measurement of soil moisture obtained by the sensors, and the total soil water potential from the soil water retention curve, it was possible to determine the hydraulic conductivity as a function of the volumetric water content for each period using the Richards equation. At the end of the experiment, the advantage of using capacitive sensors with the instantaneous profile method was confirmed as an alternative to using a tensiometer. The main advantages of using capacitive sensors were to make the method less laborious and to allow moisture readings at higher tensions in soils of a sandy texture.

Utilizar inversores no controle de vazao de sistemas de bombeamento por meio da variacao de sua velocidade pode ter uma maior viabilidade, caso o custo de sensores seja minimizado. Este trabalho investiga, por intermedio de analise multivariada, uma variavel adequada ao pseudocontrole da vazao de um sistema de irrigacao que economize o uso de sensores e simplifique o sistema de controle. Uma bancada de ensaio para coleta dados foi montada no laboratorio e os dados foram processados no Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). A analise de agrupamento hierarquico utilizando o metodo de Ward com base na distância euclidiana quadratica mostrou um grupo composto de quatro variaveis, estando presente nesse grupo a vazao, voltas no registro, altura do nivel de agua da calha parshall e a corrente eletrica, indicativo de que a corrente eletrica pode ser usada para o pseudocontrole, pois o inversor mede essa variavel. A analise fatorial tambem indicou uma forte correlacao da corrente eletrica com a vazao do sistema. A pressao foi o parâmetro da primeira componente da analise fatorial que apresentou a maior correlacao com a vazao, no entanto o uso dessa variavel para o controle automatico demanda o uso de sensores.
