Centrality and p⊥ dependence of J/ψ suppression in proton-nucleus collisions from parton energy loss

Francois Arleo; Rodion Kolevatov; Stéphane Peigné; Maryam Rustamova

A bstractThe effects of parton energy loss and p⊥-broadening in cold nuclear matter on the p⊥ and centrality dependence, at various rapidities, of J/ψ suppression in p-A collisions are investigated. Calculations are systematically compared to E866 and PHENIX measurements. The very good agreement between the data and the theoretical expectations further supports p⊥-broadening and the associated medium-induced parton energy loss as dominant effects in J/ψ suppression in high-energy p-A collisions. Predictions for J/ψ (and

Quenching of hadron spectra in DIS on nuclear targets

Francois Arleo

The effects of energy loss in cold nuclear matter on J/ψ suppression in p-A collisions are studied. A simple model based on first principles and depending on a single free parameter is able to reproduce J/ψ suppression data at large x(F) and at various center-of-mass energies. These results strongly support energy loss as a dominant effect in quarkonium suppression. They also give some hint on its hadroproduction mechanism suggesting color neutralization to happen on long time scales. Predictions for J/ψ and Υ suppression in p-Pb collisions at the LHC are made.

Parton Propagation and Fragmentation in QCD Matter

Alberto Accardi; Francois Arleo; William Brooks; David D'Enterria; Valeria Muccifora

The probability distribution D() in the energy loss incurred by incoming and outgoing hard quarks in a QCD medium is computed numerically from the BDMPS gluon spectrum. It is shown to follow an empirical log-normal behavior which allows us to give the quenching weight a simple analytic parameterization. The dependence of our results under the infrared and ultraviolet sensitivity of the gluon spectrum is investigated as well. Finally, as an illustration, we discuss and compare estimates for the quenching of hadron spectra in nuclear matter and in a quark-gluon plasma to HERA and RHIC preliminary data.

Constraints on quark energy loss from Drell–Yan data

Francois Arleo

Abstract. The multiple scatterings incurred by a hard quark produced in a nuclear medium induce the emission of soft gluons which carry a fraction of the quark energy and eventually affect the hadronization process. Here, the depletion of semi-inclusive hadron spectra in DIS on various nuclei (N, Ne, Cu, Kr) is computed as a function of
