Paralysis Induced by Feeding Synthetic Glycerides to Chicks.

Sergio Brambila; Fredric W. Hill

Summary Feeding mixed triglycerides synthesized from soybean oil fatty acids as the sole non-protein energy source in a simplified diet produced severe growth retardation, incoordination, and a crippling leg paralysis in young chicks. The possibility that these effects may be due to the lack of an unidentified essential nutrient is discussed.
