Studies on Modular Design of Milling Planer that Facing Variant Design

Variant design has already become the focus of digital design, and modular design is the foundation for realizing variant design. To realize variant design for a certain class of milling planer, according to the analysis of the characteristics and developing situation of milling planer, a modular design method orienting to variant design is presented in this paper. Functional independence of module should be the first priority in the method; then the structural independence. By using the method of system analysis, combining with parameters and type spectrum of series of products, module division is successfully implemented on milling planer. The feasibility of this method is verified by experiments. The ability to respond to the market of this product has been improved significantly.

Research on Assembly Variant Design Based on Complex Network

To realize the variant design of assembly containing standard component, both type characteristics and parameter characteristics of standard component are studied. With complex network theory, the parameters of assembly are analyzed. A method of assembly variant design is presented. UG (Unigraphics) is re-developed with VC++ and UG/Open. A variant design module is developed, and assembly variant design is realized.

A Fast Retrieval Method Based on K-Means Clustering for Mechanical Product Design

Radius Angle Histogram (RAH) is useful method of retrieving 3D mechanical models. This method, however, not completely uses the information of radius angle histogram of the model. As a result, the retrieval precision is not very high enough. To improve the retrieval efficiency, K-means clustering method (KMM) is proposed in this paper. The radius angle histograms of the models are established first and then be served as inputs as KMM, respectively. By using KMM, the models can be classified and the results can be obtained. To validate the proposed method, an experiment is given. The results show that the retrieval precision of the proposed method is higher than that of single using RAH method.

Research on Structure Rationalization Method of Product Family and its Application

In product configuration of mass customization, the structure of product family is one of the key factors which affecting the efficiency of configuration. Applying complex network theory and algorithm to mass customization field, a structure network of product family is constructed. The evolving rule of used number of class module variation with the number of product is obtained. The instantiation module number contained by a class module variation with the number of product is obtained. The evolving rule of used number of instantiation module variation with the number of product is obtained. A structural rationalization method of product family is presented. As an example, all methods are applied to a steam turbine product family, and the methods are verified.

Research on the Evaluation of Plane Orientation Error Based on Uncertainty Theory

Based on coordinate measuring machine (CMM) the given part is measured in any orientation, and then the least square evaluation mathematical model of plane orientation tolerance is established. What’s more, the uncertainty evaluation method of orientation error is proposed according to the uncertainty theory of new geometrical product specification (GPS). The face-to-face angularity is taken as the example to present the effectiveness of the proposed uncertainty evaluation method. The result shows that the uncertainty evaluation method not only meets the requirements of new GPS standard, but also ensures the integrity of the flatness inspection results. As a result, the accuracy of the workpiece inspection can be improved.

Topological Optimization Design of Top Beam of the Longmen Milling Machine Based on Hyperworks

Topology optimization is a kind of optimized method, which can seek for an optimal allocation of structural material according to the load,constraints and optimization goals .To achieve the lightweight design of the top beam, establishing a minimum strain as the objective function, the volume fraction as the constraint conditions, and the density of design domain as the design variables,implementing the topology optimization for the top beam,the optimal distribution of top beam material is obtained, which provide a basis for the manufacture of top beam.

Research on the Variant Design Method Based on the Integration of CAD/CAE

Component variant design method based on parametric design technology and parametric CAE technology are discussed. Based on the integration of CAD and CAE, a variant design method with the function to satisfy engineering constraints is put forward. Using VC++ and Jscript as developing tools, CAD system (SolidWorks) and CAE system (ANSYS) are redeveloped and integrated. A variant design method based on the integration of CAD/CAE is realized. A prototype system of the above variant design method is developed. As an example, variant design of workbench of a machine tool is realized. The variant design method and the variant design prototype system are verified.

Simulation Analysis of Motor Vehicle Ride Comfort Based on Adams

Applying ADAMS to vibration control field of heavy truck. The vibration simulation model of a truck is established. With the simulation model, different acceleration responses under different suspension stiffness and damping force are simulated. The simulation result is close to the actual result. It shows that the simulation method is benefit to reduce the number of vibration experiment and to forecast the vibration response of heavy truck.

Vibration Reduction by Optimal Design of Powertrain Mounting System of Heavy Truck Based on SQP Method

Heavy truck needs to use the vibration reduction technology to improve its quality. Nowadays, it is a useful and effective way for vibration reduction that by employing the proper Powertrain Mounting Systems (PMS) to reduce the vibration. One useful method to develop more effective mounting systems is through optimization techniques. Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) is an effective optimization technique. In this paper, design optimization of powertrain mounting system based on SQP method for vibration control is presented. The optimization objective is to find the highest decoupling ratio of the each mount while selecting the stiffness and orientations of individual mount. The constraints are imposed to keep the desired decoupled ratio in each orientation and the frequency corresponding to the decoupled ratio. A case study is given to validate the proposed method. The result shows that the value of optimized system, such as decoupling ratio, is improved significantly. Therefore, the method proposed in this paper is effective for the optimization of powertrain mounting system.
