A tridentate unsaturated tertiary phosphine obtained by dehydrogenation of 2,2′-bis(diphenylphosphino)bibenzyl in the presence of rhodium complexes; X-ray crystal structure of the chelate olefin complex RhCl(o-Ph2P·C6H4·CH:CH·C6H4·PPh2-o),CH2Cl2

Martin A. Bennett; P. W. Clark; G. B. Robertson; P. O. Whimp

The chelate olefin complex RhCl(o-Ph2P·C6H4·CH:CH·C6H4·PPh2-o) is formed by dehydrogenation of 2,2′-bis(diphenylphosphino)bibenzyl, o-Ph2P·C6H4·CH2·CH2·C6H4·PPh2-o, in the presence of RhI or RhIII compounds, and is shown to be essentially square planar by X-ray structural analysis; four- and five-co-ordinate iridium(I) complexes are also formed by the tridenate olefinic ligand.

Journal of The Chemical Society, Chemical Communications | 1974

cis-trans-Isomerism in a co-ordinated monothio-β-diketone: X-ray structure of tetraethylammonium monothiothenoyltrifluoroacetonatopentacarbonyltungstate(O)

Mary McPartlin; G. B. Robertson; George H. Barnett; Mervyn K. Cooper

X-ray structure analysis has shown that the anion monothiothenoyltrifluoroacetonatopentacarbonyltungstate(O)(I) is the first metal complex in which a β-diketone type of ligand has been observed in its trans-isomeric form.

Journal of The Chemical Society, Chemical Communications | 1975

Organic synthesis at co-ordinated ligands: synthesis and stabilisation of a pyrroline ring system and X-ray structure of (tetra-ammine)-4,5-dihydroxy-4,5-dimethyl-Δ1- pyrroline-2-carboxylatocobalt(III) perchlorate hydrate

Jack M. Harrowfield; G. B. Robertson; Alan M. Sargeson; Peter O. Whimp

The rapid stereospecific synthesis and stabilisation of a pyrroline carboxylate using co-ordinated nitrogen and carbanion nucleophiles, and the X-ray structure of (tetra-ammine)-4,5-dihydroxy-4,5-dimethyl-Δ1- pyrroline-2-carboxylatocobalt(III) perchlorate hydrate, is described.

Journal of The Chemical Society, Chemical Communications | 1975

Aristoteline, a novel indole alkaloid: X-ray structural determination

Bryan F. Anderson; G. B. Robertson; Hugh P. Avey; William F. Donovan; I. Ralph C. Bick; John B. Bremner; Anthony J. T. Finney; Nigel W. Preston; Rex T. Gallagher; Graeme B. Russell

X-Ray crystallography shows that aristoteline, the main alkaloid of the New Zealand plant Aristotelia serrata, has the novel indole structure (I).

Inorganic Chemistry | 1980
