Abstract Differential and channel cross sections and hyperon polarizations are presented for the reactions KLop → KSop, π+Λo, and π+Σo at an average beam momentum of 550 MeV/c. These data provide constraints on KN and K N amplitudes obtained from charged kaon reactions and reject one of the S = +1, I = 0 and one of the S = -1, I = 1 phase shift solutions.

The decay K/sup 0//sub L/ ..-->.. ..pi..e..nu.. was studied in an experiment using the Argonne 12-ft bubble chamber exposed to a K/sup 0//sub L/ beam of momentum 550 +- 35 MeV/c. Use of the monochromatic beam and the large chamber volume allowed the selection of about 12 000 K/sup 0//sub e/3 events, containing a small ((5.3 +- 0.5) %) and well understood background from K/sup 0//sub mu3/ decay. The main feature of this experiment is the good acceptance over the Dalitz plot which minimizes possible systematic errors in the determination of the vector form factor f/sub +/(q/sup 2/). We find that the data are adequately described by a linear q/sup 2/ parameterization, f/sub +/(q/sup 2/) = f/sub +/(0)(1 + lambda/sub +/q/sup 2// m/sub ..pi..//sup 2/), with the slope parameter lambda/sub +/ = 0.028 +- 0.004 before radiative corrections are made. Direct application of radiative corrections, as calculated by Ginsberg, yields lambda/sub +/ = 0.025 +- 0.005. Our result is in good agreement with other recent experiments and with the assumption of K* (890) dominance.

Abstract The reactions K L o p→K S o p, π + Λ , π + Σ o have been measured for center-of-mass energies from 1540 to 1610 MeV. Channel cross sections and coefficients of the Legendre polynomial expansion of the differential cross sections and hyperon polarizations are presented. We see no evidence in the πΛ channel for the suggested 3 2 − resonance at 1580 MeV. The cross section for the K S o p channel shows an energy dependence which is not predicted by the existing phase shift solutions based on charged kaon data.

Results are presented from a 120k picture exposure of the ANL 12 foot chamber to 6 GeV/c 60 percent transversely polarized protons. Included are final results on LAMBDA and d K/sup 0/ inclusive production in which a K/sup 0/ beam polarization asymmetry parameter of (-.65 +- .15) is obtained. Preliminary results on ..delta../sup + +/ production in the reactions p up arrow p ..-->.. ..delta../sup + +/n and p up arrow p ..-->.. ..delta../sup + +/ + X will be presented. In addition, a comparison of the polarization of the low mass enhancements produced in the reactions p up arrow p ..-->.. p(p..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/), p(n..pi../sup +/) and p(p/sup 0/) is given.
