Survey of present and future tests of CP violation

John F. Donoghue; Barry R. Holstein; G. Valencia

We review the present status of CP violation and critically assess the various tests of this symmetry which have been proposed. Future progress in the subject requires new experimental information distinct from the present measurement of the parameter e. We find that there exist experiments which are potentially feasible, although all such experiments are reasonably difficult. The theoretical analysis of the various CP-odd observables is reviewed and in many cases updated.

Quark-lepton unification and rare meson decays.

G. Valencia; S. Willenbrock

We study meson decays mediated by the heavy gauge bosons of the Pati-Salam model of quark-lepton unification. We consider the scenarios in which the [tau] lepton is associated with the third, second, and first generation of quarks. The most sensitive probes, depending on the scenario, are rare [ital K], [pi], and [ital B] decays.
