Influence of polymer medium on the photolysis of benzonitrile-4-[[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]methylene]-amino-N-oxide

Abstract The photolysis of benzonitrile-4-[[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]methylene]-amino- N -oxide was studied in solution and in a solid polymer phase. The polymer medium stabilizes appropriately oriented oxaziridine molecules which produce a characteristic charge-transfer transition at higher wavelengths in the electron absorption spectrum.
