The spread of the Social Web is influencing the evolution of Semantic Web: the way of producing and consulting information changes, as well as the way people relate themselves with the Internet and the services it gives. Users will participate at first hand to the developing of the Web which therefore becomes interactive. This study considers this feature, trying to link the worlds of Social Media and Semantic Web, with the aim of proposing a semantic classification of the information coming from the Web, which do not always follow a well-defined order and organization. Starting from a precise analysis of the information of the Web through an accurate and meticulous study on how these are presented and used, in order to give a sorted and easily usable data structure, this approach wants to define a taxonomy able to represent knowledge through an iterative combined approach, where top-down and bottom-up analyses are applied on the knowledge domain we want to represent.

The structure of the Web grows and changes, giving the user the chance to actively participate in its development. This study tries to link the worlds of Social Media and Semantic Web, with the aim of proposing a semantic classification of the information coming from the Web. Our approach consists in a mixed-iterative process, where top-down and bottom-up analyses of the knowledge domain which has to be represented are applied. We start from the concept of the domain knowledge base. The fundamental body of knowledge available on a domain is the knowledge valuable for knowledge users. We need to represent and manage this knowledge, to define a formalization and codification of knowledge in the domain. This kind of representation was created according to the criteria by which information, in a given domain, is structured within the net, by taking the hierarchy proposed in different sites as a reference.

An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is an innovative way to raise funds and launch a startup. It is also an opportunity to take part in a project, or in a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization). The use of ICO is a global phenomenon that involves many nations and several business categories: ICOs collected over 5.2 billion dollars only in 2017. The success of an ICO is based on the credibility and innovativeness of project proposals. This fund-raising tool contains however some critical issues, such as the use of tokens that have no intrinsic value and do not generate direct liquidity, and the role of investors in the management of the startup. We analyzed if the Lean Startup methodology is helpful to face this critical aspects and we examined some ICOs in which the proposing team states explicitly that a lean startup approach is used.

Just a few years after its birth, Knowledge Management drew the attention of the academic world, becoming a matter of intense study as the scientific community has always felt the need to create the cooperation among its members allowing the information exchange. Many disciplines develop several standardized formalization that domain experts can use to share information as reusable knowledge. The purpose of this chapter is the study of a process to formalize knowledge by using an iterative approach mixing a top-down and bottom up analysis of a specific domain and the bottom-up analysis for the information in the object of the specific domain. Our case study analyzes the domain of descriptions and reviews of Italian wines. We start by analyzing the information collected from the Web in order to define a taxonomy able to represent the knowledge related to the above mentioned domain.

The use of teledermatology in primary care has been shown to be reliable, offering the possibility of improving access to dermatological care by using telecommunication technologies to connect several medical centers and enable the exchange of information about skin conditions over long distances. This paper describes the main points of a teledermatology project that we have implemented to promote and facilitate the diagnosis of skin diseases and improve the quality of care for rural and remote areas. Moreover, we present a blockchain-based approach which aims to add new functionalities to an innovative teledermatology platform which we developed and tested in the Sardinian Region (Italy). These functionalities include giving the patient complete access to his/her medical records while maintaining security. Finally, the advantages that this new decentralized system can provide for patients and specialists are presented.

Teledermatology offers the possibility of improving access to dermatologic care by using telecommunication technologies for connecting several medical centers and enabling to exchange information about skin conditions over a distance. This paper describes the main points of the implementation of a teledermatology project following the so-called smart region paradigm. A case study is presented to describe how the implementation of a virtual organization model using teledermatology is able to promote and facilitate the diagnosis on skin diseases and improve the quality of care for rural and remote areas. Initial results and assessment by general practitioners and dermatologists show that the proposed software platform can be used as a decision support system for dermatological patients.

During the last years, the number of applications for mobile devices have greatly increased, as well as the number of developed services. Taxonomies provide an important tool to classify and help to understand this complex domain, describing it in a simpler way. This paper presents a taxonomy of services for a new class type of mobile applications that we called Mobile Public Utility, MPU. We contribute to research by providing a first classification scheme to the scenario of MPU App usage by depicting his special nature because not only this mobile application enables citizen to have a dialog with local authorities about environment safety or security, but also it improves trust through better interaction with Public Administrations and it enhances the decision-making process by local governments.

Tourism business has become competitive and dynamic and it is essential to adapt both customers’ satisfaction and to market’s changing needs. A hotel owner faces three big challenges: he must look to attract new guests to its location, manage his hotel in the best performant way and has to adapt their online marketing strategy using several tools such as online travel agencies (OTA) or meta-search engines website or other players from the sharing economy. All these channels can complicate the hotelier’s life, making the tourism market and by removing in some areas the prices according to the seasons and the availability. In addition, consumer generated content (CGCs) influence the market and the revenue management making the web reputation even more important. This paper presents Aposentu, an innovative tool which integrates all the required components in order to successfully manage the hotel. The platform will be cloud computing technology based and it will show a proper dashboard with a lot of innovative functionalities. By using semantic tools, sentiment analysis, complex network metrics, the platform will allow the hoteliers to become more competitive in the tourism industry. Moreover, administrative complexity will be reduced and that will facilitate the management of

For several years, many cities around the world are moving through a number of initiatives to implement the so-called “city dashboards”, as an opportunity for a new quality of urban life in terms of knowing and governing cities. The main contribution of this paper is to examine how city dashboards are performing on various metrics and comparing them in order to understand what they do. Starting from this perspective, to the best of our knowledge and by examining dashboard examples, there are many differences in the products that go by the name “city dashboards”. Moreover there are several methodological and technical issues that are not dealt with and yet solved in terms of data, indicators and benchmarking. The design of a city dashboard needs a clear vision of the direction that public administrations intend to undertake, alongside an ability to build scenarios and analyze the results of experiments in the context of the changing urban variables. Given the gap in academic literature concerning this subject, we developed a goal-oriented framework for examining the characteristics of various city dashboards and developing a taxonomy. Our framework enables a more systematic process for developing an effective city dashboard and provides useful insights to decision makers. The results suggest that some features emerge and our findings highlight specific clusters.
