Study on Asymmetry Stainless Steel Filtration Membrane Used in Juice Industry

Abstract The changes of the brix, the color values, the turbidity, and the transparency of the juice during the process of filtering juice under operating pressure were discussed. Results show that compared with the relevant physical and chemical indexes of the juice before filtering, the brix of the apple juice after filtering decreases from 15% to 14.3%, transparency (T625) is more than 80%, turbidity (NTU) is smaller than 1, and the juice color values (T440) can amount to more than 40%. The above mentioned results predict that the application of the asymmetric stainless steel filtration membrane in juice industry presents a very good potential prospect.

Preparation and Microstructure of Ir-Zr-W Alloys by Powder Metallurgy Route

Abstract Iridium alloys doped with approximate 4 at% Zr and 0.3 at% W alloying elements were fabricated for ultra-high temperature applications by powder metallurgy route. The phase compositions and microstructures of the composite powders and the alloy were investigated. It was found that Ir 3 Zr phase could not form and no mechanical alloying phenomenon occurred when the composite powder of Ir-ZrH 2 -W was prepared by high-energy ball milling even for 24 h, but it could be completely transmitted to Ir 3 Zr phase after calcinating at 1300 °C. The average grain size of the alloy prepared by the powder metallurgy route was 4–5 μm, and Ir 3 Zr phase was generated in-situ in Ir-based alloy during sintering process.
