Observations from Afar

Margaret Lloyd; Geoff Romeo

The FutureSchools@Singapore program is an ambitious, visionary and comprehensive approach to redefining education in the digital age. Built on research evidence dating from the introduction of information and communication technology (ICT) into classrooms and developed by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and IDA (Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore), the program is a calculated experiment enacted in differing ways across a range of learning sites. Its overall aim is “to enhance the diversity of educational offerings to cater to learners’ needs” and to “achieve higher levels of engagement of their students who already have an infocomm-integrated lifestyle” (IDA, 2012, para. 1).
