Ultra-low stress coating process: an enabling technology for extreme performance thin film interference filters

We present a record-breaking performance of an ultra-low stress 8-skip-0 100GHz thin film filter enabled by a new coating process. The coating has 17 cavities, over 400 quarter-wave layers, and a physical thickness of 94 micrometers.

Ultra-low-stress thin-film interference filters.

A method to reduce the optical degrading effect of coating stress in a thin-film filter by releasing the filter from the substrate on which it was deposited is described. An extremely challenging 8-skip-0 100 GHz wavelength-division-multiplexing band-splitting filter is demonstrated.

Metal-oxide Ultraviolet Narrow-band-pass Filter at 214 nm

We demonstrate a metal-oxide based narrow-band-pass filter at 214 nm deposited with reactive magnetron sputtering with a peak transmission of 48%, a bandwidth of 4.8 nm and an average blocking of OD4 from 220 nm to 750 nm.
