The asymmetric synthesis of (−)-captopril utilising the iron chiral auxiliary [(η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)(PPh3)]

Stereoselective alkylation of (R)-[(η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)(PPh3)COCH2CH3] with bromomethyl-t-butyl sulphide, followed by oxidative decomplexation in the presence of L-proline t-butyl ester gave, after deprotection, (−)-Captopril enantiomerically and diastereomerically pure in an overall yield of 59%.

The asymmetric sythesis of (-)-actinonin using the iron chiral auxiliary [(η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)(PPh3)]

Abstract The asymmetric synthesis of the α-pentyl succinate fragment of (-)-Actinonin is achieved using the chiral iron acetyl S-(+)-[(η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)(PPh3)COCH3] and subsequently converted to (-)-Actinonin in an overall yield of 41%.

Asymmetric synthesis of (−)-actinonin and (−)-epi-actinonin

The highly asymmetric induction imparted by the iron chiral auxiliary [(η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)(PPh3)] is exploited in the preparation of homochiral (R)- and (S)-α-pentylsuccinates. Their application in the synthesis of (–)-actinonin and (–)-epi-actinonin is described.

A new synthesis of 1,3-dihydrobenzo[1,2]oxasiloles by a novel rearrangement of a pentavalent silicon intermediate

A new synthesis of benzo[1,2]oxasiloles is described, wherein an unprecedented intramolecular allylic transposition takes place probably involving a pentavalent silicon intermediate.
