End-Gate Grain Sampling Tool Evaluation

Leslie F. Backer; George Maher

ABSTRACT TWO grain sampling tools were compared to the pelican sampler for their ability to collect representative end-gate samples of HRS wheat, durum, barley, corn, and soybeans. Factors used in the comparison were test weight, moisture content, dockage, FM, and BCFM. The two samplers were made of readily available, durable, and easily worked materials. There were no significant differences (P<0.05) among the three sampling tools. The tools were also tested to determine if there were significant differences between grain samples collected at different times during the unloading process. There was no significant difference (P<0.05) between the samples collected at different times during the unloading process.
