Educating for Creativity

Gianluca Bocchi; Eloisa Cianci; Alfonso Montuori; Raffaella Trigona; Oscar Nicolaus

Our current educational systems reflect forms of thinking and organizing that are not appropriate for the twenty-first century. New transdisciplinary educational approaches should integrate complexity, creativity, and an awareness of the most recent developments in the sciences.

Introduction: Contexts, Boundaries, and Knowledge Construction

Gianluca Bocchi; Eloisa Cianci

The monographic volume develops a reflection on the relationship between “contexts” and “different forms of knowledge production.” It involves researchers working on the production of knowledge in different contexts, such as scientific laboratories, as well as academic, business, organizational and health care contexts, learning environments (formative agencies), theaters, and so on. This special issue investigates how each context can lead to the production of new and unique forms of knowledge. New reflections and new points of interests are put in evidence in the following articles: from the boundaries between different kinds of knowledge, including the scientific one, to the relevance of “context,” which not only proves to be essential for any form of knowledge construction but also takes many and multifaceted meanings. A particular focus is devoted to the idea of creativity as an essential way to construct and improve various forms of knowledge in different kinds of contexts. All these aspects help us to reflect upon our contemporary age in a different way, emphasizing controversies and contradictions that characterize it and promoting a growing awareness of our knowing processes in its subtlety and complexity. In that way we could understand more and more the main problems of our contemporary age and the constrains we live with in new possibilities for a creative evolution of ideas and knowledge.

Toward an Ecology of Charisma

Gianluca Bocchi; Elisabetta Pasini

Elisabetta Pasini: Your professional and personal path moves from a multidisciplinary vision of knowledge dipping its roots in the complex thought, and in this sense your experience is somehow rare because it has combined, in an extremely original way, your academic calling with your advice activity in the corporate field and in the field of the organizational thought. I think that this has also been possible thanks to your narrative skill. I’ve always be fascinated by your talent in telling stories able to connect facts, concepts, geological ages, cultural paths, so that the most complex and different phenomena seem to acquire a new sense and they become immediately comprehensible. I remember that in one of our first meetings, where we had to plan a managerial path for a big Italian company, you suggested to starting with facing the reasons why dinosaurs disappeared . . . and this idea sounded brilliant to me. . . . So, the theme I would like to talk about with you today is charisma, a theme that has different dimensions and can be seen as a personal characteristic, a social phenomenon, but can also be analyzed in its implications towards the organizational thought.
