A semantic recommender engine enabling an etourism scenario

Angelo Corallo; Gianluca Lorenzo; Gianluca Solazzo

This work approaches the problem of delivering services in a personalized way in an eTourism scenario. Our research, on one side, exploits semantic annotation of either services and user profiles to add a layer of business description that allows the system to supply the most suitable service to the user who requested it. On the other side, this work aims to extent Service Oriented Architecture with the use of semantics and ontologies to enable e-business relations in the tourism applicative domain. This approach is adopted in the MAIS project, in which a Service Oriented Architecture has been developed. Our model relies on semantic description of services, rule-based user profile and the use of semantic matching algorithms.

Service Customization Supporting an Adaptive Information System

Antonio Caforio; Angelo Corallo; Gianluca Elia; Gianluca Solazzo

This work approaches the problem of discovering atomic web services that will realize complex business processes in an adaptive information system. It is proposed a model for semantic description of web services and user profile and the design of a semantic recommender engine based on this model. The recommender engine performs, during the web service discovery phase, a ”similarity evaluation” step in which it can be possible to estimate the similarity between what the service offers and what the user prefers. A semantic algorithm, that measures distance between concepts in an ontology, is used to rank the results of the semantic matching between the user profile and a list of web services, suggesting to the user the most suitable services.

Architectural Scenarios Supporting e-Business Models for a DMS

Claudio Petti; Gianluca Solazzo

Following recent studies and analysis conducted about Business Models for DMSs, this paper aims at discussing the interrelationships between destinations’ configurations, business models, and architectural strategy for DMS platforms. In particular this work draws on recent attempts aimed at matching DMS business models design with specific characteristics of target destinations, to extend the same considerations towards the identification of the appropriate technological architectures and enabling software applications. In this aim a framework for selecting the appropriate DMS architecture is presented. The result of this analysis will thus lead to the identification of a set of technological architectures according to the different configurations that a destination might present.

A knowledge-based interaction model between users and an adaptive information system

Angelo Corallo; Gianluca Elia; Gianluca Lorenzo; Gianluca Solazzo

This work approaches the problem of modelling interactions between users and an adaptive system. It is presented the approach adopted in the MAIS project for modelling and designing a recommendation environment for delivering services in a personalized way. The model relies on semantic description of services, on rule-based user profile (part of these studies came from the experience in the KIWI project) and on the use of semantic matching algorithms. We also present the design of the recommendation engine, that is the core subcomponent of the Environment, which performs the task to evaluate each service according to user preferences.

e-business case as a tool for facilitating ICT adoption in local government agencies

Claudio Petti; Marco De Maggio; Maria Luce Lanna; Gioconda Mele; Gianluca Solazzo

A major challenge for Local Governments today is represented by the introduction of new networked service delivery models able to coordinate a number of different local actors for responding effectively to increasing communitys expectations. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are instrumental here. Though, the implementation of ICTs in Local Government Agencies (LGA) is a challenge too. Thats why effective new services delivery models and successful adoption of enabling ICTs within the LGA goes hand-in-hand. Following these considerations, this paper aims at illustrating a case of ICT-based solutions adoption into a Local Government Agency in charge of tourism promotion. More specifically the e-business case methodology crafted and used for this purpose will be shown. In doing so, the role of the e-business case will be advocated both as a tool to accompany Local Government Agencies into the process of introducing and using ICTs, both as a starting point for a wider strategy aimed at modernizing local communities though ICTs.

A legal architecture for digital ecosystems

Virginia Cisternino; Angelo Corallo; Gianluca Solazzo

This work approaches the problem of the lack of competence, certainty in the reciprocal trading and awareness of regulatory issues for Small and Medium Enterprises that cooperate to dynamically exchange resources, applications, services and knowledge in an e-business context. It is presented the approach adopted in the DBE project, in which it is fundamental to promote and boost trust relations between the DBE-adopters and the potential ones, supporting the creation of services and transactions that will occur respecting local regulatory requirement. In this paper we will show how we addresses the previous requirements to design a legal architecture for digital ecosystems, model the knowledge related to contracts, agreement and regulatory issues, grant effectiveness to the general model by designing and implementing a process for the capture, modification and extension of this knowledge.
