Les Sages ont-ils retouché certains titres des Psaumes?

Gilles Dorival

Did the Rabbis modify the titles of the Psalms? Did the opposition between the Wise and the young Christian movement affect the biblical text itself? Olivier Munnich and Gilles Dorival do not agree about the answer to these questions. In this contribution, Gilles Dorival presents his arguments for a positive answer which is based on some qualitative differences. The discussion does not concern the titles of Ps 44 (45), 59 (60), 68 (69) et 79 (80), but is about five differences to be found in the titles of Ps 5; 6 [= 11 (12)]; 9; 21 (22). In addition, also the fifty-nine Psalms which give the indication eis to telos are taken into account. The argumentation rests on the evidence of Aquila, the Targum of the Psalms and Midrash Tehillim. It is argued that it was the aim of the Rabbis to prevent the Christian Jews from using some titles for their thesis.

Septante Et Texte Massorétique. Le Cas Des Psaumes

Gilles Dorival

The textualist approach differences between Masoretic Text (TM) and the LXX LXX considered as a kind of gold mine from which one could extract text nuggets of great value for reconstructing an earlier Hebrew text in TM or improve TM where there are difficulties. In fact such an approach faces two sets of difficulties. First, it runs the risk of identifying gaps where there is none. Then, it tends to put on the account of different Hebrew model TM-specific lessons from the LXX. It is not always easy to establish the oldest Greek text of the Psalms. For thirty years, the issue of dating and localization of the Greek translation of the Psalms was the subject of numerous studies. The original context of the chapter is in French. Keywords: Greek translation; Hebrew model; Masoretic Text; Psalms 6

Un groupe judéo-chrétien méconnu : Les Hébreux

Gilles Dorival

Clement of Alexandria, Origen and Didymus testify to the existence of a Jewish-Christian group living in Egypt during the IInd century: the Hebrews. They inform us about fragments of the Gospel of this group, the Gospel of the Hebrews. First written in Hebrew or Aramaic, then translated into Greek, this Gospel was accepted, especially when used to solve exegetical difficulties. The Hebrews were therefore part of the Main Church. Origen tells us about the Bible of these Hebrews, in a famous passage taken wrongly as a description of the Jewish Canon of the Bible. Origen gives again precious information on these Hebrews who knew well the Jewish traditions of interpretation and who practiced allegory and typology in their exegesis. Should they be identified with other Hebrews met by Origen in Palestine? It is not certain. Because of Jerome and a few others, should they be taken as Nazoreans ? They represent a movement similar to theirs, but also separate.
