Spinocerebellar ataxia type 10 (SCA10) is a rare form of autosomal dominant ataxia found predominantly in patients from Latin America with Amerindian ancestry. The authors report the history of SCA10 families from the south of Brazil (the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina), emphasizing the Belgian-Amerindian connection.

espanolEste articulo tiene como foco comprender la Reforma Orestes Guimaraes en Santa Catarina efectuada en los anos 1910 hasta 1918. Para ello, se privilegio como fuente los articulos del profesor paranaense Raul Rodrigues Gomes publicados en el diario Diario da Tarde, en 1921, sobre la Reforma catarinense, analizandolos en una interlocucion, y a traves de la metodologia de entrecruzamiento de fuentes, con los estudios de la investigadora Gladys Mary Ghizoni Teive. Profundo admirador de Orestes de Oliveira Guimaraes y de sus hechos en lo que se refiere a la utilizacion de la Pedagogia Moderna, Raul Gomes trajo a la superficie, a traves de sus escritos, hechos y posibilidades de comprender la Reforma que elevo el Estado de Santa Catarina al nivel de modernizacion tan anhelado y propagado por los gobernantes e intelectuales a principios del siglo XX, principalmente en lo que se refiere a la creacion de los Grupos Escolares y remodelacion de las demas instituciones escolares. portuguesNeste estudo teve-se como foco compreender a Reforma Orestes Guimaraes em Santa Catarina efetivada nos anos 1910 ate 1918. EnglishThis article focuses on the Orestes Guimaraes Reformation in Santa Catarina, which was carried out in the years 1910 to 1918. For that, it was privileged as a source of the articles of the professor of Parana Raul Rodrigues Gomes published in the newspaper Diario da Tarde in 1921 about the Reformation in Santa Catarina, analyzing them in an interlocution, and through the methodology of exchange of sources, with studies by researcher Gladys Mary Ghizoni Teive. A deep admirer of Orestes de Oliveira Guimaraes and his unprompted achievements in Modern Pedagogy, Raul Gomes brought to the surface, through his writings, facts and publication possibilities, the Reformation that elevated the State of Santa Catarina to the level of modernization so modernized so longed and propagated by the rulers and intellectuals in the early twentieth century, mainly is not what is the creation of School Groups and remodeling of other school institutions.

RECEPÇÃO DE MANUAIS ESCOLARES: UM ESTUDO A PARTIR DOS COMUNICADOS E ATAS DAS REUNIÕES PEDAGÓGICAS DO GRUPO ESCOLAR GUSTAVO RICHARD (1946-1952)

Following the new trends in manualistic research, in this article we aim to focus the reception of textbooks prescribed by the Department of Education of Santa Catarina to subsidize the studies of the New School in pedagogical meetings of school groups. Thus, besides the manuals we distinguish two complementary sources: the announcements made by the teachers in the pedagogical meetings of the Grupo Escolar Gustavo Richard and the minutes of those meetings. Such sources made it possible to understand which problems were faced by teachers, which textbooks were selected to assist them in solving those problems, as well as which representations the teachers had about the textbooks they had read. For the latter issue, we used the concept of representation by Roger Chartier.

THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL PATHS FOR THE INVESTIGATION OF TEXTBOOKS: THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE CENTRO DE INVESTIGACIÓN MANES

This article seeks to analyze theoretical and methodological paths taken by the Centro de Investigación en Manuales Escolares, in Spain. To this end, it emphasises the two perspectives that have been the base of investigations throughout its twenty years of existence: one about “issuers” and another about “receptors” of the messages from textbooks. For the first one, are emphasized the studies related to the analysis of textual and iconographic content of textbooks, the so called “ideological research tradition”. For the second one – the receptors –, are highlighted in this article the incursions of the centre’s research on the “contextual spin”, referring to both, the textbook production context and the context of its use. Also of note, the use of intertextuality methodology, based on the combined study of the book with different sources from the reception contexts, which has contributed to the disemboweling of the most difficult issues of manualistic practice: the methodology of using books in the classroom and the consequent approach to the history of school culture.

Biografia de uma professora extraordinária

dirigido pelos professores Maria del Mar del Pozo Andres e Antonio Castillo Gomez, na Universidad de Alcala de Henares. Inicialmente, ela foi citada como um exemplo de professora que foi depurada e presa pela ditadura franquista, mas que conservou muito bem os documentos escritos sobre a sua trajetoria social. Em outro momento, soubemos que Maria del Mar terminava uma biografia sobre esta professora, que teve uma atuacao considerada de vanguarda nos anos 20 e 30 do seculo 20 e cujos fragmentos eram comentados em aula com o entusiasmo da pesquisadora encantada pelo seu objeto de pesquisa. Em junho de 2013 publicou-se a esperada biografia de Justa Freire, uma obra com mais de trezentas paginas e composta de vinte e cinco pequenos capitulos. A leitura desse livro se impos como um desdobramento do seminario, bem como uma forma de revisitar a historia da educacao espanhola entre a abertura cosmopolita da conjuntura da

The newspaper A Escola and the construction of modern and republican school (Laguna, decade of 1910)

O presente estudo analisa dois exemplares do jornal A Escola, veiculado no Grupo Escolar Jeronimo Coelho, de Laguna, Sul de Santa Catarina, em 1916. O que este jornalzinho teria a ver com aqueles que anos mais tarde foram popularizados por Decroly e Freinet e incorporados as escolas primarias brasileiras como parte das associacoes auxiliares da escola? Esta questao constituiu-se no fio condutor desta reflexao historica, buscando indicios que contribuam para a discussao acerca do ensino ativo, carro-chefe da pedagogia moderna, e da escola ativa, principal bandeira da Escola Nova. Para tanto, analisa principais temas pautados pela gazeta A Escola quais sejam: o patriotismo republicano e a civilidade burguesa.
