An Evolutionary Learning Approach for Robot Path Planning with Fuzzy Obstacle Detection and Avoidance in a Multi-agent Environment

Taua M. Cabreira; Graçaliz Pereira Dimuro; Marilton Sanchotene de Aguiar

This paper describes a Fuzzy-Genetic Algorithm Approach for path planning of mobile robots with obstacle detection and avoidance in static and dynamic scenarios. Through the software Net logo, used in simulations of multiagent applications, a seminal model was developed for the given problem. The model, which contains a robot and scenarios with or without obstacles, is responsible for determining the best path used by a robot to achieve the goal state in a shorter number of steps and avoiding collisions. Additionally, a performance evaluation of this model in comparison with A* algorithm is presented.

An approach to interval fuzzy probabilities

Tiago da Cruz Asmus; Benjamín R. C. Bedregal; Graçaliz Pereira Dimuro

Fuzzy sets an logic have been largely applied used to the treatment of the uncertainty, va- gueness and ambiguity found in the modeling of real problems. However, there may exist also the case when there is uncertainty related to the membership functions to be used in the modeling of fuzzy sets and fuzzy numbers, as there are many ways to define the shape of this kind of number. Thus, one can use, for example, the theory of interval fuzzy sets to address this uncertainty, considering different modeling of fuzzy numbers into a single interval fuzzy number. In this paper, we use interval fuzzy numbers to r epresent probabilities that are difficult to be estimated and where the modeling of fuzzy numbers is not trivial. To elaborate the calculation of probabilities, it will be introduced an approach based on one used by Buckley and Eslami, where the probabilities respect an arithmetic restriction. We discuss several properties of the proposed approach.

Using ckMeans algorithm in image segmentation process: Preliminary results on mammography analysis

Rogério Rodrigues de Vargas; Graçaliz Pereira Dimuro; Benjamín R. C. Bedregal

Clustering algorithms aim at modelling fuzzy (i.e., ambiguous) unlabelled pat- terns efficiently. Our goal is to propose a ckMeans algorithm to the image segmentation process. To validate the proposed methodology we applied the algorithm in mammography images. We present the initial results considering just one image.
