Although inflatable antennas represent a new and untested technology for remote-sensing applications, the advantages of small volume, low cost, and low mass provide an incentive for people to invest in developing this technology. The space-borne inflatable antenna concept was evaluated for passive microwave sensing of ocean temperature, wind, and precipitation. A large-diameter (3 m), on-axis, parabolic-torus antenna, operating in the L/C- and X-band frequency ranges, was designed and measured. This paper describes the system design of the inflatable space-borne antenna, including the mechanical design, the dynamic analysis, the deployment demonstration, and other key technologies. A photogrammetry tool was used to detect the rms accuracy of the antenna reflectors surface. An NSI planar antenna near-field testing system was used to measure the antennas patterns and gain. We also analyzed the possible errors resulting from the measurements.

Presents a new architecture of the reflectarray antenna, it is useful to reduce the weight and the volume of antenna when it is undeployed. A detailed method of computing the cable system was introduced. Found that the axial force on the aluminum laminate boom is relatively small when the spans of the reflector boundary is odd. The most fundamental structural component of this antenna is the spring tape reinforced aluminum laminate inflatable boom. The finite element solution is closely approximate to the experiment results, when accomplishing the nonlinear buckling analysis of the aluminum laminate boom with initial imperfection of 5%. At the end, this new type of folding-and-rolling reflectarray antenna was made; the surface precision of this antenna was measured. The result shows that this kind of new type antenna is suitable for application.

In this paper, two kinds of circular crack including external circular crack and penny-shaped crack in a transversely isotropic piezoelectric space are considered. Firstly, we obtain the solution to the problem of an external circular crack in a transversely isotropic piezoelectric space subjected to antisymmetric normal point forces and point charges. Based on this, the solution of one-sided loading of an external circular crack is constructed. Secondly, the real shape of an external circular crack and the opening displacement of a penny-shaped crack under an arbitrary point force and point charge are further obtained. At last, the results are presented in a graphical form.
